Looks like a G3/K they have in the ad. I wonder why they call it a smg as opposed to an assault rifle.

Depending on how "k'd" it was, it might be a "smg"

There were full size G3s also. And another type of HK that had a flap over the ejection port that I'm not familiar with. I also wonderd about what the translation might be. I heard Americano somthing-or-other. The grenad launcher was cool.

that's an HK51, not a G3k. notice they called it a "MC51" and said the country of origin was "Germany/USA". and yes, it is short enough to be considered a G3k, being only slightly longer than the MP5

HK51's were ever shorter than the G3k, and were manufactured in the US with german parts IIRC. The HK51 is not actually an "HK" made weapon, the G3k being the shortest G3 variant actually made by HK

And that one is the G41, which was basically HK's attempt to make a rifle that would be desirable to NATO countries (including Germany) to use as their 5.56 rifle, and still include Hk's favorite operating system and features. It includes many features found on other NATO rifles such as the bolt cover, M-16 magazine housing, and bolt forward assist. I dont think it ever really sold (not even to Germany), so then came the G-36, which most people are familiar with

Man, gotta love when the German's decide to be "Practical". "G3" Gewher rifle # 3 or German Army Rifle # 3. Parabellem, "For War" German borrowed from the Roman saying "si vis pacem, para bellum" If you want Peace, Prepare for War. The Model K or Kurst. Short. No mystery, the name says it all...

and technically speaking a sub machine gun can only be a submachine gun if it fires sub caliber pistol bullets - thats what the SUB in sub machine gun stands for.

so technically a HK51 cannot be considered a SMG, but instead a short rifle or Kurtz
