I was recently in Michigan to see my father and an aquaintence of his had a rifle he wanted me to look at to see if I can figure out what it is worth. He told me it was a CETME so I just assumed it was someones prized century chop job. Well to my surprise it was no Century but the real deal.I took some pictures so you guys could drool a little. It was sold to him quite a few years ago as being unfired and from looking at it I believe it probably is.there are a few light storage marks here and there but overall it is excellent ++ He is going to try to sell it but he is looking for a good price as he paid well for it. Any advice to what I should tell him?I was interested in it of course but probably worth quite a bit more than I have in my budget right now

3k to start
Tell him its worth about 800, but ask him if he'll take 700 for it. Then buy it.
haha j/k

One was listed on a for sale board down here in AZ for weeks at $1800 and did not sell easily. It was not as nice as the one in the post but it was still nice and I don't think it was used much.

the more i look at those photos, that gun is not unfired. i can see the brass kisses on the ejection port side
the average listing price on a MARs CETME is $2500.00 for an average used gun
as an example

ive seen many sell at that price over the years
that doesnt mean much really cause i saw one guy pay $12000.00 for 3 mars cetmes 5 years ago - thats 4k a piece.

Is that the normal flash hider for a MARS, turned down to remove the grenade rings?

I'm already trying to sell stuff to pay for my Sar-8....I guess if I didn't eat for a couple of months I could buy a Mars Cetme.
/Great looking rifle. Glad you shared pictures. I really don't have anything of value to add to the thread, just wanted to say that I'm jealous I didn't get to see it in real life.

did not notice that until you pointed it out
that is not normal - that flash hider has been bubbad
remove and replace with correct one before selling it

why would someone bubba the FH like that? What purpose would it serve to remove it, turn it down, and reinstall?
also, did the MARS cetmes not come with a bayo lug/cleaning kit? This one just has a cap.
Cruffler, Did the guy say what kinds of accessories he had with the rifle? Original sling, scope rings, magazines... stuff like that?

The gun is all the guy had.I think he said he bought it in the early 90's. He bought it at a gunshow as an investment because of the aw ban but has since lost interest and is selling most of his firearms. I just assumed the turnded down FH and absence of the bayo lug was part of the sporter version.

I bought a MARS about a year ago. It's flash hider was also turned down to remove the grenade rings. Mine is a metal handguard version and it came with a set of MARS original scope rings for $1900...The owner said it had been fired but I couldn't tell.

The Mars picture's on MWDG3's website shows both the grenade rings on the flash hider and a bayonet lug plug.
