A while back I cant even remember what the thread was about, but someone was talking about using JB Weld on a project. In one of the posts someone said to use something else because Duracoat would not cover well on the JB Weld. I cant remember what it was. I did a search, and nothing. Does anyone know what it was?

I think is was about big grind marks on the REC sides of an AK build. I think WBC said that he uses SOLDER then sands it down.

I used JB weld on a cetme build I did around the cocking tube weld that had a few small blemishes and the Duracoat stuck just fine and had no issues with color or sheen. Just my 2 cents.
I too have used J B Weld on my CETME. Duracoat went on fine over it. Still on there after 5 years of use. It does help fill some blemishes.

Thanks thats what I'm using it for. Well I already did it then I saw that post and put that project down for a while. I figured if that was'nt going to work I was gonna have to change it before I got farther into it.

I used it to correct the barrel pin hole on my CETME after rebarreling it. Looks factory and finished well. I also built up a few deep gouges from the vise.

Ive used it to fill porosity when welding the old trigger holes on Saiga's.

I saw a post one time, someplace I don't think it was here, where someone used JB Weld to cover up some imperfections on an AK receiver. I don't know what sort of paint was used on the build but you could sure see the JB Weld. It might have been more a case of the fill material not sanded to the same level as the surrounding metal. I have seen similar performance with Bondo on amateur body work.
I have used JB Weld sparingly on several builds and it has seemed to cover just fine with DuraCoat. I did not try and cover anything but tiny blemishes with it. I have used an epoxy steel putty to fill in bigger booboos on builds. It works great too and when covered with DuraCoat or any quality paint it does not show.
