Picked up another Cetme today, like I need another. Its a Century complete and unfired since they threw it together. Made the mistake of not taking the bolt apart. The bolt doesn't show any recent grinding, but is flat on the back (no radius) and measures only 1.824. It is white on the back, but shows signs of substantial firing and has factory looking machine marks.
The other thing is the carrier is one piece and a bit different than my others.
Here are some photos, tell me what you think???

Is the B carrier better or worse? The 6 others I have had all had C carriers.

Update, had to replace the B carrier it had way too much slop from wear. In this case the B carrier was worse.

The carrier is milsurp. It'll be fine. The civilian models have rails that go the length of the carrier, while the military version has the "four points" rails. Other than that, they are basically the same.

Neither, just different, as far as I can tell. My CETME has a "B" model carrier, and it works just fine.

The B Carrier was designed for the original 7.62 CETME round. Lighter, faster bullet didn't need as much mass in the carrier. The locking piece also had a different angle. When they were going to fire 7.62 Nato in the B model, you had to swap the bolt and carrier/ locking piece. You're probably Ok to use the lighter carrier if you have the correct locking piece which would affect timing of the rollers unlocking. The carrier mass would affect the velocity of the bolt and carrier, and thus the rate of fire in FA. Not that we have that option.

Thanks for the replys. I have built several of these and own 3 now. Of all those I had never seen a B carrier. My next issue is the bolt that might have been ground. That is unless the B carrier used a sllightly different bolt. If it was ground it was done a long time ago, as it shows wear and age on that face. The bolt shows machine cutting marks on the rear of the bolt and doesn't look anything like the other ground ones I have handled.

IIRC the B and C carriers use the same bolt.

My spare is not ground and comes in at 1.832" using the caliper and the mic reads 1.833". I believe you have a ground one with that measurement. The acceptable length is in one of the stickies....been a while since I looked in there, but it is there somewhere.

Yup, checked my other bolts and they are 1.833, 1.834, 1.832. Last year I bought several kits and found about 1 in 3 had short bolts. None had ever seen Century, so I figure there are armories somewhere milling the bolts. Of the Century ones I have seen with fresh grinding, it was very crude.

I'm going to build a Semi auto Cetme B. I have all the parts, even the rear sight, flash hider, and lefty lower, but not the skills.

Not that hard, after you build the first one. I posted on this one, because I had never seen a "B" carrier. Thats why I picked up this Century build, plus it was cheap.

Century is still grinding bolts! There just a lot more clever about it now. They machine the end and get rid of tell tail grind marks.I also believe they touch it up with a little cold blue or something. For that aged i will fool you look ! Thats about the forth one i have seen reported and looking like that. And measuring 1.824.That tells me something is up there !

Put me down for 2. I'm expecting a windfall from a Nigerian Prince I made an investment with. In fact just send the rifles and I will pay a substantial bonus, as soon as he sends me money. I believe in sharing the wealth and my good fortune. Just to show how nice a guy he is, he also offered to marry me and share in his inheritance too. Unfortunatly I don't roll that way and I had to decline.

I'm afraid you're too late, Prince Mbutu has already sent me the "Cashier's Check" for 2 Million dollars. All I have left to do is deposit and send him a check for $50,000 and all the rest is mine!!! :lolgreen:

the Model B carrier is the better made carrier of the 2

it is all milled just like the Rheinmettal G3 carrier

you will find that the long tube on the Modelo C is welded to the top of the bolt carrier on the model C

the Model B carrier is 1 piece and the tube is pressed inside of the milled body

more better for full auto use

the Rheinmettal G3 carriers command a premium with the full auto crowd
