My next build is gonna be an M53. I can buy the kit through Apex or Centerfire Systems. My question is this: Is it worth the extra $75 to get the Apex kit with no bipod over the Centerfire kit with the excellent barrel? What are the differences in the two kits. Anyone have good or bad to say about either?

Thanks in advance,

M53 dummy.

That Centerfire kit is sort of hard to beat. Much better price in my opinion than the Apex offering. The Centerfire Kit and a Wiselite receiver and you'll have a nice semi-auto MG53

ive had kits from both places.... they both build the same. LOL

unless you already got a lafayette mount you need the bipod.

barrels are not that hard to come by.

ive done both rewelds and the WLA rear deals and if i ever do another one i'll just go with the reweld to save the cash.

the WLA section is nice and worked perfect.

but times are tough and moneys rough and thats a chunk of money that you could save for ammo if you have receiver pieces laying around.

I'll agree with Sean on the rewelds to save money, IF you are a Mig-Master like Sean is! :lolgreen: And there aren't many people as skilled with a Tig as he is with his Mig setup!

BRP guns has MG42 kits also but they're the priciest I've seen.

i just ordered my kit from centerfire systems, they give you options as to which barrel you want, from crap to great. plus it comes with bipod which i really wanted. never done a build like this so it shoul sbe interestiung.

its not the easiest build to do, but its a great gun to shoot once you get it right.

just dont get discouraged if you have to tinker with it a bit after you build it.

once its right, ITS RIGHT.

plenty of guys on the boards who have built these and everyone will tell you (me included) that "adjustment" is the key here.
