Was at gun store returning the Sig 522 and saw a pic of the new GSG-522...WOW it looks kool. You should see the drum on it.
It will be introduce at the Shot Show.

I should scanned a copy of it.

No it was not the camo one.
It was in the Shot Show edition of a dealer mag.
GSG had to end production of the HK lookalike. It is a totally different look.
If I get to the store I will steel the mag and post the "leaked" "stolen" pics (mocking Remington's release of their new guns.

The one in the pic looked like a SBR with AR type flash hider and a bad azz drum.

The newest ShotGunNews has a pic of the new 22. It looks like they just made some minor changes to the rifle but the drum is a must have.

Big Difference is now made by umerex don't know if that is good/ I think that is the same company making the .22 colt ar15 that jsut came out if those are decent then this may be.

As optimus states later on down this statement is incorrect I apologize.

The majority of reviews for the Colt/Umarex AR have been... well, less than stellar. There were a series of them up for sale on Gunbroker billed as a plunger, pooper scooper, drain marker, and possibly a doorstop, but with strong warning that you should not consider them fully functional firearms that would go bang when you pulled the trigger.

That said, I doubt the Umarex is a direct copy of the GSG5, I'm certain the insides will be completely different. (Also keep in mind the only things the GSG5 and MP5 have in common is looks, the way they work is completely different).

As for pics and descriptions of what's changed on the GSG5, now 522, Clicky Here. (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=41&t=302150) There's also a picture of the drum, and a mention that the agreement between ATI and H&K still allows you to buy all the parts to make a GSG522 look like a GSG5.

Where is it said its made by Umerex? Unless you are saying H&K's new 22 is going to be made by Umerex???

The H&K's will be made by Umarex. (MP5, HK416, and eventually MP7)

Also all the internals are to remain the same!! so no worries for parts! only external changes cosmetic!
This is a post on ar15.com by Chris From ATI It is in there from him. Also I know UMEREX used to make airsoft guns. but never heard alot of good about them.

The GSG is not from Umarex. It's from German Sports Guns, a whole separate company. The GSG5 and GSG522 will be the same inside. I strongly doubt the Umarex/H&K will be the same as the GSG inside.

hey prime, have you seen the 1st anniversry gsg? a local shop has one and since it will be the first and last it would be good to get one and put it away, but i just can't help myself i would have to shoot it.:nonono:

To be honest, I don't think they're going to have a huge collector value anyway, so unless they're selling it for a stupid price (like anything north of $550) I'd just go for it and shoot it.
Some of us were worried about parts availability, but that looks like it's not gonna be a problem. So fire away methinks.

asking price at the shop is 700.00 it didn't sound like that good a deal to me any way.

I read that as the MP5 will be made by Umarex, and the cosmetic changes were made to the GSG5 to differentiate from it.

In response to the outrage caused by the discontinuation of the GSG-5 resulting from the settlement of the lawsuit between GSG/ATI & H&K, German Sport Guns and American Tactical Imports are happy to announce the new GSG522 series of .22LR firearms. Where H&K got to take their ball and go home, part of the agreement was that with a few changes to the look of the gun, GSG could continue to manufacture and ATI could continue to import a mechanically identical gun with subtle exterior changes to differentiate the gun from the original licensed MP-5 design, now to be made by Umarex.

The GSG5 and GSG522 are the same insides, with subtle changes to the exterior, as to keep from confusing it from the new Umarex one. ATI is not having it built by Umarex, H&K is getting theirs built by Umarex.
