I just passed on one for $20, probably worth more then that, but only to a some collectors. What's the sense in having a can of ammo you can't open, that's no fun.

There is a life span on primers and propellants, if you dont use it it might not fire either. I think they said murcuric primers were good for 100+ years or so but the non chrosive ones have a shorter life span. The problems with propellants is the stablizers they use, atleast on stick propellants on artillery rounds, not sure on disk, ball or stick on small arms ammo.

I bought 200 rounds on a cloth belt of canadian ought six AP 20 years ago dated '44-'45. It was some of the most accurate ammo I shot through my O3A3. I still have about 50 rounds, shoots great.
My WWII vet dad talked about shooting krauts through trees with '06 AP, and also talked about being able to destroy a brick wall with it.

35+ years ago we shot 1000's of rounds out of our coax-M1919's on our old M48s, it was all dated 43-45, it worked fine back then. Of course that was over 35 years ago... the ammo held up better than the 35 year old C-rats did... especially the smokes! :icon_biggrin:
