so i need an ak, have any of you guys ever gotten one on the internet? im just looking for a cheapie. nothing special as long as its an ak... and high cap, cuz serously, what the hell is the point of a low-capacity AK? my local dunham's has a couple of those. i dont get it.
if anybody knows any sources other than my random run of the mill local gunshow that they highly recommend i would really appreciate it. (i have to wait another 5 months for the next show)

Have you looked at the AK FAQ. It has a link to AK vendors.

yeah im searching it now, i just wondered if anybody had anyone they could recommend based on good deals/good service/good past experience....
oh also, whats my cheapest option? buying a whole rifle? buying parts and building myself? or buying parts and having a vendor assemble it?

If you can get the low cap gun(guessing wasr-10 as its the most common low cap you see now new) cheap enough, you can buy the same conversion kit that century uses, open the mag well up and have a high cap gun, I think copes has them cheap. Or you could get a better fcg and build it up for a few more bucks.
I have technically two low cap ak, saigas in 223 and 7.62x39 and they are just good guns to have. I have plenty of high caps though too and have thought about getting one low cap to play with.
Remember the imported ak's come in as 10 round low cap guns and are converted here, hmmm, wonder what the barrel ban did to these, as they are still coming into the country?

The low cap mag thing is so they can be imported into the country. The CAI takes them and opens up the mag well. Thats why we have low cap AKs...
Sorry I build my AKs... but if you want real cheap and works ok (with trigger slap) I would probably go with a WASR10 from someone out there. I think I know someone selling one real cheap if you are interested. PM if you are. But its a cheap gun that works well for the money....but no piece of art.

The tools needed to build an AK can be expensive for a single build. I would suggest finding a build party in your area if you decide to go that route. The Yugo's that classic arms have for $399 seem like a good deal based on what the price of Yugo kits are going for.

Centerfiresysytems.com has a pretty big selection and pretty good prices also. I have purchased from them and they were good to deal with.

Classic Arms Romanian $319.95. Can't beat it for a basic AK. Yugo is better if you want to spend the extra$ but Romy "keeps on tickin".

Dang five months till the next show, that sucks. I was in Dallas last weekend, three weekends ago was here in town, two weekends before that was the huge show in Tulsa. I think I can find a show within a short drive here almost every week, Dallas, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, or even the smaller towns that get two shows a year. Man you need to move or drive a little further. :)
