I took the plunge last week and sent the papers for an M1 Carbine from CMP. Couldn't believe the response they got! Just got notified today that they opened my order received on 4/30. Many people were not happy with their pricing but I haven't found anything locally as good. If you want one don't wait, it appears they will not last too long.

...They don't make them these days...
Actually Kahr/AO does make them. I've never heard if they're GI spec or not however.

Kahr does make them but they are not GI and have very mixed reviews. Pricewise, they are up there also. Not sure, but I believe they are cast vs milled. That's not necessarily all bad. My M1A is close but it is not an M14.

I beleive you might mean the are cast vs forged, both need to be milled after either process. The thought is that forged metal has better grain structure due to the hot process molding the metal by the forging hammers.

You are right okie! I need another glass of something with alcohol in it. An old shipyard type shouldn't make that error.

Wish I had the extra cash. I would love to have an M1 Carbine but just can't fit one in the budget

Jacobite, as you read above, the usgi ones are doing nothing but growing in value. Thus unless cmp or some other importer finds a stash, they aing getting any cheaper, so if you want one I would try to get one now.
Heck selling blood and other bodly fluids might get you there, hmmm 50-100 a week depending on where you live for plasama, oh well heck you get the idea. JK! :)

Yes I know they are not getting any cheaper. I just figure they are one rifle I can live without. Any time I miss not having one I will just shoot one of my Garands.

Can't wait to see the pictures/range report of your carbine! I really wanted to get one from CMP, but my PCS orders came in and I will have to move soon. :062: Oh well, I guess there are always gun shows...though I haven't been able to find a 100% Winchester which is what I want for the collection.

Ron go to the CMP website and go to the estore. If you've never been there you'll have to register. After you log in go to pending orders. If your lucky it'll be there. There have been reports about being on there with no emails after the first one.

I got the first email from them back on 4 May and it just showed up as an open order yesterday. No other email for me yet.

Not a damn thing wrong with that Carbine! Looks damn good Mike. I'm going to have no choice but to order one I see. Is that stock a replacement or an original USGI?

Stock is a replacement Italian FAT stock. Not the strongest barrel I've ever seen but should be a good shooter. It should clean up very nicely.

I am very pleased. Luck of the draw. I have seen some pics that were not nearly as nice. I quit depending on luck a long time ago, cause if it was a waste product, I would be terminally constipated. This time it was better than usual. I will take what I can get! Hope yours is better!

Took it to the range today and put 45 rounds downrange and it was flawless. It's a keeper! Had two offers to buy it while I was there. It's not going anywhere!

Roger that! My better half really likes this carbine and I think it will belong to her eventually. Not however till I am horizontal forever! She is a better pistol shot than I am but still needs to work on the rifle thing!

Just an update! Took the new baby to the range yesterday and she was flawless through 45 rounds. Accuracy was good at 50 yds but need to tweak it a little. Used Wolf Steel so I think it will do better with brass which is on order! Cleaned her up and she is still sexy! This is my rifle....................!

How did you like the wolf, did it seem harsh on the action or parts. I have half a case of the stuff in addition to boxes of other stuff(mostly armscorps and white box winchester and federal) but have thought of getting more of it.

06-07-2007, 06:22 AM
It didn't seem too bad to me okie but I didn't have any other brass at the time to compare it with. Seems everyone around here was out of Carbine ammo. Got a case on order, then we will check it out again.

Ammo To Go weasel master. It was the LC remanufactured stuff and it doesn't show up on the website now, I might have gotten some of the last they had.

My buddy collector received his and he said the action / metal was in perfect shape, but the wood was butt ugly and abused. He ended up replacing the stock with another he had.

Here's the one I got. It has a 3xx,xxx serial. Metal is clean, wood has a few nicks and dents. I'm happy. It is 10x better than the garand I got a year ago

Inlands are sold out. Underwoods are scheduled to go on sale 9/4 at the moment but there are only 3K of them and they will go fast. Go to odcmp.com for info.

Got my Inland from the CMP on the very first day that they were available. Hate the rifle...only because it shoots like a .22 so I tend to shoot several 100 rounds before I know it and have to go out and purchase more ammo. ;)
BTW, Underwoods are suppose to be available be the end of this month/early next month, but they only have around 3200 of them. Not sure if they'll only be offered online or if I can drive up to the store and handpick one out.

CMP posted they have a few more inlands comoing up for sale via mail order or at the store somewhere around three hundred plus, probably wont last long, but get your name in the hat anyway, they;ll put you on alist for the future to fill as they come up, supposedly you can get more than one.
