I need a D or a D stock; I like those better than the "butthole" stocksThe "D" and "M" were marketing letters. the rifles are the same. Some just got the butthole stock (thanks to politics) and some got a monte carlo.
Talk to planning, he might have an extra monte carlo stock.

Nice family there, On your paratrooper is the scope mount rail on the side screwed to the receiver or mounted some other way. I have one and was just wondering as mine is screwed.

Ya know, I have to say I haven't paid any attention to it. I don't remember seeing anything on the outside, so I imagine it is screwed from the inside of the receiver.

SOG showed some nice ones, but I don't know on quality what they actually look like.
I missed the boat by a couple weeks with Classic Arms, and they don't know if or when they are getting more.
Keep me in mind, and also on the SKS D stock...
And if you need to store some stuff (like the Galil) I have some room and low storage fees available... :jumping:

Just finished tearing it down and it looks good. Stock has seen a lot of use and does no match other parts but has a lot of character. Everything else looks to be in excellent shape. Cleaned the stock with denatured alky and used 0000 steel wool very lightly. Just put a coat of shellac on it and waiting for drying. Will repost pics after it's cleaned up and back together.

Sounds good, look forward to seeing it done up. I've been pretty lucky with mine, they all have good stocks with minor dings at the worst.

I picked up a extra stock for my pair, just hunting around gun shops, what ever you do with a extra one, is try to make sure that the metal reinforcement for the mag well is there, if not you will have to take it out of the old stock and put it into the new one.

Nice family! Does the .'M'. variant also take non-chinese mags?

Those are great collections and I mean everybody's. The Alby's look like Russian WW2 rifles and those Paratrooper carbines look like somthing China would have sent to Vietnam. Tex I like your Chinese Paratroooper's steel handguard, It makes it look mean .. I understand you can fit an AK drum to those paratrooper models, but only if you notch the stock. Is this true? I always thought a drum mag on a SKS would be the cats ass. Like the big 1960's comic book PPsh 41. The comic book's of that time would roll all communist weapons in one ball. Big drum , vented steel handguard with oval slots, cone shaped flash hider, SKS type wood stock.

The Para uses a standard fixed SKS mag. The M and D variants can take a drum mag with a little WECSOG work.
One of these days life will slow down enough to take the time to run some shells thru the new ones.. I must have close to 10 new guns I haven't had a chance to shoot, and another AR build on the way.
