I picked up this 1956 vintage Beligum Army camo tent for $16.95 from our pal at the Sportsmens Guide. It is two poncho shelter halves carried in a camo pouch that doubles as a hood. The 5 stakes and 4 poles are held in a smaller carrier around 16 inchs long. The patern of the camo is interesting as it looks like old WW2 British Dennison smock pattern. One shelter half looked unissued, the other had two rips around 4 inchs long. I ordered a second tent anyway. I got it for my kids to play Army, but it does make a great little tent for cannoe trips. The ponchos make a good backdrop to photo my wood stock FAL or M 1949 against.

nice tent!
I got a dutch one similair to that one (sans the camo, and it was made of canvas) from CTD for like $8 a few years back, and it has kept me dry through 2 heavy rainstorms. these pup tents are definately worth the money, and are as good or better than many modern nylon ones.
the only problem is they are cramped as hell if you try to fit more than one person in there :)

IMHO those are a bargain for what they are...A useful item for not a whole lot of money. I have lots of shelter halves and quarters and I used to play army in some of them when I was a kid....Even going so far as making a machine gun nest out of one with my MG-42 look alike gun I made out of PVC pip and a 3X6 chunk of wood. Dad made me a bipod and I had cases linked up with m60 links I found on a military base...Lets just say I OWNED every time we played army in my neighborhood :plane:

I recall using something similar when I was a kid. Also playing 'war' in the backyard we turned one in to a foxhole cover. It was great fun until Dad was out mowing the yard a few days later and ran across a 3' deep pit with a pancho staked over the top.
