Good Afternoon,

I'm test mounting an HK mount on my cia3 cast receiver and it just will not seem to go. The rubber bumpers get in the way. I have not cranked on it for fear of squishing the receiver. Do these need to be fitted or do I go gorilla on it? If they need to be fitted where do I file first?

Thanks

2 spots may need to be adjusted... the bumpers on top of the receiver may need to be filed down a bit, and if you can get something to the bottom of the lugs on the sides to take that down a bit. All mine needed was to have the paint taken off the lugs on the sides, and possibly jst the slightest bit of metal.

also, if its a genuine HK mount, theres a piece of plastic on the back that needs to be removed as it hits the rear of the saddle on the back.

Perro had instructions with pictures on the old site. That is what I used when I fitted mine. Basically I needed to cut the scope saddle bottom flush with the the top of the receiver as well as the rectangular pad 'bout 3 inches in front of it. It was then a matter of cutting the undersides of the four lugs.
I proceeded slowly and test fit until it would lock down with quite firm finger pressure. A second stanag mount I had fitted exactly the same when I was done. If you try to gorriila the closing of the claw mount you risk snapping the locking mechanism. I think one of the guys that posts here did that.

I originally had my friend machine down the saddle and front pad but wound up removing a bit more of both with a file anyway. For undercutting the four lugs I used a dremel grinding tool.

I suppose you could attack the mount instead of the receiver but my mount was German made and my receiver said "Monkeyville, VT"

That would be me. I was using what turned out to be a softer pot metal airsoft mount (they were supposed to send me a Tapco claw mount and did the ol' switcheroo on me) and the "steel pin" that rotates down and pushes the right side claws in to position sheared right off.

To fix it I was able to extract the remaining part of the pin and replace it with the shaft of an 1/8 or 3/16" drill bit. To get it to fit in to the same hole I had to chamfer the end bit and it slid in with a good tight fit. Once done I cut it down to a little over 1/4" exposed. No problems since.

I raised a holy stink with the company I ordered it from and canceled the remainder of what was on backorder. A month later Airsplat sent me the Tapco mount I originally ordered and expected me to pay for the original as well. I'll never buy an airsoft product for a real gun again.

I broke that pin as well... how did you get the pin out once you broke it?

Mine broke deep down inside the piece it goes in to, s I was able to put it back in place and just work slowly, and once I got it locked on, I havent taken it off since... I couldnt get the pin out very easily, but Im sure one of these days, Im gonna want to take the mount off... until then, Im happy withthe setup. Just wondering how you managed to get that pin out.

I lucked out. The airsoft mount has a hole drilled all the way through so I was able to drive it back out through the front with a small steel pin punch.

The Tapco mount doesn't have the hole going completely through so if it were to happen on that I imagine I'd have to drill it out.

Here's a quick pic of the repair... sorry, I couldn't get the camera to focus on the pin.

Thanks guys I'll start on the pads first. The mount is HK. Got it from Dan. He is out of scopes I figured I can put an Acog onit with an adapter. Thr mount came with a dovetail adapter on it. I think this mount was used for night vision. Wish I could get the NV scope that mates with it!

Dont forget to take off that plastic piece at the back before you go cranking on it.

Mine from Dans came already assembled... The locking lever goes on the left side if looking at the rifle from the rear, and the unlocking lever goes on the right. Just in case... I think its marked which way is forward, but cant remember.
