anyone know if you can reuse brass blank casing for reloading.
realize you would have to cut off tip and use trim die for final lenght
Brass is Lake City

This was on here just a while back. I believe the consensus was NO! That brass is softer and thinner, IIRC. The crimped blanks would most surely be softer to star crimp it shut. Maybe do a search and see what was said.

I agree. Most I've seen seems pretty thin

I beg to differ, the blank cases shown were actually as thick or thicker then "regular" cases, I covered this in depth here:

I never reloaded these cases with bullets, but IMHO if I absolutely needed brass I think it could be used safely.

thanks for the input. i will do some more research.
i did remove the tip and trimmed to lenght one casing then measure it for weight against a federal 308 case and a german 7.62 case.
federal was 181.8gr
german was 176.9gr
LC blank was 186.9gr
also send email to ATK corp who currently operates the Lake City plant.

For the sake of Liability, I doubt they will say it's OK to reload any of thier cases.

Now more is coming back. You cross-sectioned one didn't you WBC. No consensus then. Looks like the you-tube vid makes a good case too. Hmmm, I don't any blank cases to try.....
