I ordered a few of the low rail mounts from AIM and I mounted them up to my builds last night.

I had to take a 9/16" endmill to the inside of it to get it to fit over the rear sight base and sit fully on the top of the receiver. I guess that the two tiny set screws that go through the rail are supposed to be used to level the mount. But no was was i going to press steel setscrews into the top of my new parkerizing!

On the underside of the mount is a slot machined in that when combines with the opening up with the endmill made the slot fit nicely onto the bar on the front of the sight base. So I can't see how the mount could shift.

Enough talk, here are the photos:

For twenty bucks, I'm pretty happy with these!

Anyone want to buy a Stanang clamp mount? LOL!

I have the same mount on my CAI. I have the standard sight so I didn't have to machine the mount. Mine fit like a glove. Mounted up tight and my receiver is sheetmetal. Can't beat it for $20.

:icon_idea::icon_idea::icon_idea: I think I see a real possibility here for using this mount to add a case deflector to a CETME or HK that did not come with one.

Look at the second pic, how the side of the mount is fairly close to the ejection port: If it was extended a bit closer and a deflector machined as part of it, you would have a bolt-on deflector.

NO WELDING OR REFINISHING.

TurboThis, do you see any possibility?

sure, it would cost like 100$ though.

Might well be worth it to some. In terms of time, cheaper than welding/grinding/refinishing.

We've been thinking the same thing, that this mount could have a port buffer added.

The only thing that has slowed my down was the worry of having spent casings slam into my optic mount with every shot. Maybe it won't be any worse that reciol, but it WILL be from a direction that the optic is not engineered to receive shock...

Might be easy enough to add a thin rubbber or vinyl pad.

Looks nice.

Does the rear sight get in the way?

Not as far as I can tell, my optic mounts up just fine. I've not tried a scope yet. I just wish the rail was longer...

Just bought 2 of these because of your review, Thanks!
Hopefully mine will fit when they get in. There were 3 left when I put in my order, and I didn't want to be a hog, so I left the last one. I've got 5 guns, so hopefully the 2 can get use on a pair of them.
I'm planning a red dot on one, and possibly a magnified optic on another. I'll post here when I get it all set up.
