The Great 308

In July 2005 I sent two wide HK forearms to TSC to get them vented. One was a standard length black forearm and the other was from my 16" barrel PTR 91k. They did a very nice professional machining job. The Standard length forearm has two rows of vents on each side. The top row has five vents. The second row has 4 vents. There are 4 vents in the bottom. So a total of 22 vents. The shorter forearm has 4 vents in the top row, three vents in the second row and three vents in the bottom for a total of 17 vents.
As I said the work is very nice and looks like they came straight from HK like this. The price was $70 each to vent my forearms. I receved good service this guy. He is very nice and had quick turn around but check with him before you send these out because I think he does them in groups.

I took the rifles to the range three times in the summer of 2006. The forearms work great! They do not heat up. The heat coming out of the vents is not excessive or bothersome however the vents really help to keep the barrel cool. This modification not only looks cool but it is literally cool.
