Just ordered a CETME 308 tonight. Should have mine within a week.
My online dealer had one of the CEMTE (G3) clones for sale less than $600 delivered. Couldn't resist for a 30 cal battle rifle.

I brought home the CEMTE rifle today. Looks OK so far, tore it down, cleaned and re-assembled. My only complaints are that the rear sight leaf is not prone to staying in place and the magazines won't stay put in the magazine well. I can pull both of them out with little effort. Needless to say, they won't stay put when the mags are loaded.
Other than that, the bolt shows a little wear but not too bad. The bolt rollers also look good. I may order a spare set to keep on hand. After firing it, I will also consider one of the HK surplus collapseable stock sets.
I have to have a look at the mag release button. I also have some new magazines on the way to compare with.
Keep posted...

You should probably reference the sticky's at the top of the page, and check the bolt for being ground, and proper gap.
There have been a couple of them lately, mine included with the rear sight on crooked, so let us know if it shoots where you aim it or not.
That rear sight leaf should click into place at each setting and stay there, and be fairly solid in that regard. Might have a detent ball missing/weak spring.

Sounds like a little filing needs to be asserted to the mag well:icon_confused:
Anyway, once everything is ironed out, your going to have fuuuuunnn. I think so maybe!?:zombie:

Well, if the BG is in spec, the other probs you note can be fixed.
You might try some other mags before messing with the mag catch ore 're-dimensioning' the magwell.
If the ball for the detent is still in the sight assembly, just take some pliers (coat the jaws with tape or leather so as not to mar the finish) and squeeze the rear sight ears together a bit. That should make the sight tighten up a bit.

opening up the mag well is not the issue, the space is too generous and I believe the issue sits with the mag release button not moving freely enough. That's going to come out before making any adjustments. I am also waiting on delivery of 4 other magazines.
I will try to tighten up the rear sight uppers..thanks. Alignment of the sights looks pretty good so far.
I'll have the gap checked before firing.
thanks:thumbup:

Good luck with it.
I know I love both of mine.
I guess as the saying goes....."If you've never worked on a CETME..You've never owned one! That's half the fun. Peeking and tweeking them to get them past the point the CAI monkeys left them.
Also, listen to SteelCore! He'll never steer you wrong. He is a walking CETME encyclopedia. There's a lot of CETME Guru's like that on this board.
