alright, i'll confess to start this topic with.. i used to play airsoft... A LOT...
yes yes yes, you can call me a mall ninja now(hey and i'm actually asian.. haha..) ...
well, i enjoyed hosing people down, it was fun at the time, and, well, guns were and still are illegal in HK(unless you go through A LOT of red tape and paperwork, it's worse than england, trust me, it is... at least some of their farmers get to own shotguns)
i don't do that anymore, it's just rediculous how much the stuff costs, i'd rather buy a real gun and spend all that money on REAL ammo. (or camera lenses)
anyways, i was browsing through youtube and i found this, thought it was pretty funny:

I just used my little Colt pocket pistol knock off to shoot a june bug on the back deck. It's pretty much the only way to get target practice in a city.

I've actually read an article a while ago in a LEO magazine that advocated using airsoft pistols for in home practice on techniques such as draw, sight acquisition, trigger control, etc.

There is nothing wrong with Airsoft battles, Me and Ms.AJ have them all the time. She has her Airsofts, and I have mine, and most anything can start a fun battle.... The pop you lady in the ass while she is doing dishes war of Dec. 06... the "Shoot you guy in the sack war when he falls asleep and should be cutting the grass",That one happens bout most every weekend.
We have a good time, and keeps us pretty sane. After the Battles SGT. DYSON (The vacuum) goes around and picks the ammo up. The loser of the battle has to push the sarge around.

I did it once, I know a guy that is REALLY into it, he just bought an all metal M249, I was afraid to ask how much it cost. The guns are cooler then paintball no doubt, but outside they lack distance and accuracy of paintball, I wouldn't do it again. Paintball is a great workout also. I think they need to make paint balls a little smaller or airsoft balls a little bigger, like 10mm, have the guns use a mag holding 30 balls with a co2 cylinder to power it, have it function like a real gun.

I had one when I was 16, mom didnt want me having guns while we were still moving about with the military. Now that Im off at college, the collection has begun thou. It was an "El Cheapo" that I used for target practice in the house, and then a few months back a couple friends and I got a few el cheapos that we shot eachother with, but didnt ever do it seriously.
Only played paintball about two times, but reffed more games than I care to count (one of my jobs while in TX).

PS- With either of these.... a suggestion. Wear a cup.

My 15 year old son and his buddies get together and raise welts on each other now and again. His best friend just bought a Thompson replica for something like $350. I could only comment on how many Mosin-Nagants that 350 could have purchased. Ah well, boys will be boys and I guess it's a hell of a lot safer than the BB guns and cherry bomb "grenades" we used to use for battle as kids in the early 60's.

I used to played airsoft a little, and paintball alot, but I'd have to say that the funnest "war game" is a big group of your friends chunking fireworks at eachother and shooting eachother with roman candles :)

I have played Airsoft a couple of times with some serious guys while we were at Leavenworth. It was a lot of fun Henry and I enjoyed it. I have a way too expensive M-4 airsoft rifle.

Paintballer here...Airsoft was after my time. I actually played on a team called the Northern Knights...non-pro. That competition pball you see on TV is fer sucks. Outdoor, indoor, all sortsa scenariaos...Michigans; Big One game was the craziest...700 ppl dividd into three teams in a few square miles...deuce-n-a-halfs to ferry players to the field from 'resurrction point.'

like i said, it's worse than the UK
see cause at least in the UK, some farmers can get shotguns to tend their land. in HK, having 10 acres is like having 1000acres here in Tx.
other than that, people just don't have the concept that you can own a gun in other countries, the thought scares them. it was quite a culture shock for me when i came. i mean i guess i could see why americans(expecially in Tx) would give off a vibe like we were cowboys in western, with the hats and the guns and all... but when i told a close friend of mine that you could be lisenced to carry a pistol on you here, he thought we were insane, that there'd be OK corral style shootouts everywhere and such... then i told him about the stats on CCW states and he just doesn't believe me.
it's weird... over there, airsoft just conditions people to either think that guns aren't as dangerous as they are, or that they'd cause the world to melt down. while here, i definately think it's awesome learning and trying to perfect this cool skill.

Henry, if any of the guys you know from HK, get over here, make sure you take them to a big gun show, and have them walk the floor with you. I am sure that will get a reaction from them too.

I think they need to make paint balls a little smaller
A long long time ago there were .50 paintballs instead of the .68, they didn't work so well, accuracy was terrible and they tended not to leave much of a mark. Also a few companies did make airsoft paintballs, but w/ lack of mass and paint once again you had a problem w/ them not breaking. 68 cal just won out.
There are some awesome new mil-sim paintball guns out though.
I've played paintball about 12 years now, played in tournaments much like the ones you see on espn occasionally and I love it. Its a terribly fun and addictive sport. Only problem with paintball, at least the way I play in the tournament scene is its more expensive that real shooting. My last paintball marker cost about 1400 bucks, tank was 300, hopper was 150, not to mention my 100 buck mask and probably 200 in clothing. While plenty of us shoot guns that cost more than that, I would easily spend 200-300 bucks on paint at an event, and I've never run through that much at the rifle range before, of course thats mostly because I switch to .22 after shooting the big boys a while.
Now this paintball season I actually quit my team to focus on other things, and what happens, they get picked up by another major sponsor and get all kinds of cheap to free stuffs... Its got me thinking of going back in, but I can't decided if I like the big noise of my real guns or the adrenaline of paintball more at this point.

first time i shot was at a commie range, i shot a type56(AK47), a full auto one
but i think the commie's are getting smarter, it's getting pretty expensive. last i heard they'd charge $30USD for 20 shots out the AK
