Just found a new toy. Traded my stash of Czech 7.62x54R and traded it for a STG2003C 5.56/223. I know, the scope is not correct but I can't afford a bigger one. Tried to mount a laser to it but had the wrong adapter.
Any idea want mag it uses? The box says Made in USA but the receiver says Made in Romania

I think your magazine choices are Weiger mags (German original and Romanian knock-offs), Yugo M-95 mags, and Pro Mags.

If it's similar to the lock-up of an SAR-3 I found the Chinese/Norinco mags can be made to fit with a some grinding/filing on the rear ramp above the locking tab and then a dab of solder on the underside of the locking tab to tighten up the fit. I did 4 of them and they all work 100%.

I was going to pick up 1 or 2 more at the last gun show but opted to try the PROMAG for the WASR3 thinking it would probably work. It didn't, the mag wants to go to high into the magwell to work.

On mags, I believe they were made for wiegners, but then the romanians made them useing their own magazines. Thus there are the wegners, and romanian wiegner copies. I have read you can get chinese to fit also. They are basically a wsar-3 with different furniture. The thing says us made as it has to to be 922r with imported receivers, I imagine they furniture and fcg and others make up the parts to make it us made.

From you pic, you either have a wiegner or a romanian copy of them. There are options to use others, chinese, which are more expensive than any others, galils with modification, and even 74 mags with follower mods. This is more of a issue even with saigas.

I've got the same rifle in 7.62. A few mods have made it an excellent rifle. I filled the stock with expanding foam to help balance it out and add some heft. Now it doesn't seem like such a toy gun stock. I also covered the inside of the handguards with aluminum tape, that helped cut down the heat. I was pretty unhappy with the side mount so I added a dog leg rail mount from Texas Weapons Systems. Topped it off with a cheap 4x scope and changed the FH to an A2, now it gets a seat on most of my trips to the range.
