Saw this one on gunbroker but looking at it the modifications are minor and could easily be put back into its original form.

The thing that confused me is why the use of an AK-47 pistol grip...I'm trying to imagine holding it knowing its an M44. Just seems uncomfortable but heck if I know, it could be comfortable. Some sort of wooden cheek piece attached to the stock that looks like a cancerous tumor.

I'll be honest though, I'd LOVE a scoped M38 or 91/59, just seems like it would make a handy little bush rifle with a big bang. Scoping an M44 seems a bit off since accuracy seems to vary depending on whether the bayonet is extended or folded in some rifles.

I hope that the bolt is not one of the sniper manufactured ones, but one of the scope conversion kits that I have seen for sale. The sniper bolts from what I understand don't come cheap!

i looked at a mosin nagant m-38 at the last gun show i went to. other than the scope being to large for the rifle it looked like a very nice set up.
i have a m-38 i shoot and i would like to set up with a PU type on it ( like the 91/30 snipers have), but it would mean drilling holes and cutting the stock for the mount.

i am not sure i really want to do that to the rifle ( at least not yet.). i have an extra stock i could use. i have an extra bent sniper bolt i can use so i don't have to mess with the original bolt, so it only be the holes to drill and tap.

i have looked at the different types of scope mounts for the mosin nagants that you don't have to drill and tap. they just don't look stable, the scope is mounted too far forward, etc.

my eyes are getting really bad and it looks like scopes are in my future. DANG!

The Accumount scope mounts allow for optics on several WWII era rifles and don't require permanent modification. Only issue with the Mosin using the Accumount is the bolt has to be bent if you go for the longer rail, otherwise its fine as is on a scout set up.

Also I was thinking along the same lines as you Planning. A PU scope on a Mosin carbine has always struck me as handy looking and seeing one that had been made it all the more difficult to consider making one.

The 91/30 isn't mine, wish it were though. Just a stock photo from the company that sells that type of scope mount. They have that style mount for almost ever WWII era rifle from Mausers to Mosin to Arisakas to Rubins.

Oh..... man, I didn't even see the pistol grip the first time....

Scopes and bent bolts, I've no problem there, but the grip is just plain fugly....
cheek piece is funny, not sure I want to get my face near it, whatever it is might be catching :D
