The seller was my my local transfer guy so I stopped by his table to say Hi, he had got the furniture in the 80's when someone was making them, I have not seen any for sale apart from this set, I gave $75,
Im a lefty and have been having a hard time finding a cheekpiece that works for me - I figured (like Henry) I could make a cheekrest from matching wood and fit it, or make the top section of the buttstock adjustable and elevate it on a slide of some kind.

Looks nice for sure, hope not a problem of buttstock cracks, due to the recoil buffer. Boy looks nice.

If ANYONE EVER sees these for sale anywhere, please share the wealth!
That is so cool I think... I didnt even know they existed, and now I want one!
I especially like the fact that its the triangle style handguard. Quite a steal indeed for what you paid.
that looks great i've been keeping an eye out for the same thing. $75 is a steal if you find a butstock on the auction their usually $150ish.

I've seen wood screws used to mount "Laser Sights" on plastic handguards.
/And Cousin Bubba wonders why his rifle won't group.

i wonder if the guy doing the new bren buttstocks and pistol grips could take measurements from the plastic stock sets and make wood ones?

im talking about a guy who is making us made bren stocks and grips for 922r. The bren stock isnt something easy to make so it might be worth asking him if he could do stuff like the wood AR sets. They were all originally wood on the bren.

Oh ok, I didnt think about compliance parts, its too early and no caffene this morning. :) Ya I was thinking there should be plenty of wood out there. Just no american wood(yes lets be proud of american wood :) )
I am forever changed! I didn't know wood furniture was available for them, though considering the burgeoning aftermarket for accessories and parts, I imagined there was someone somewhere out there who made them. I'd bet that if you found someone making them now, out of quality wood, you sure souldn't touch the set for no $75. Perhaps triple that...
I love wood furniture and will opt for it whenever it is an option, but not sure I'd go for wood if the gun was never designed for wood furniture. I don't know...

On anyone makeing these, take off your buttstock on your ar, and look how thin the material is on top of the recoil assembly at the front of the buttstock, I imagine if you make these, you would have to pick the wood carefully to prevent that from breaking when you machine the profile then drill out for the tube. If it were easy I guess there would be more.

This set was from Springfield Armory - they produced them in the 80's.

I hope they don't put that dumb groove down the sides of the stock, like they do on their AK ones. Ruins the whole look. :monkey:
