I have a chance to acquire a VEPR 308 Win. Standard Carbine 20.5 " barrell. I'm told it has about 1,000 rounds put through the barrell. Anyone here know what the barrell life is under normal use? THX

I would love to get a VEPR for sure, I have two other aks in the caliber but heck who would want one of them. Depends on the price though.

I would say AT least 10,000 rounds.

I shot one a few years ago in .308.....it was nice man

I think I'll buy it. The barrell is chrome lined. It sure looks nice, only draw back (or not) is it's a hunting platform and couldn't be "tacted out", but thats okay in this case. It fits the cheek like a glove. Turkish Walnut thumb hole stock. Ill put a P4 on it and call it quits.

sounds nice, see if they have a bore light so you can check bore. 1,000 rounds of ammo isnt alot considering the service life of some guns BUT,thats if its been takin care of and the barrel bore has been cleaned and/or what type of round has been put through it. but good thing is ,about all ammo now is non corrosive that i have seen for sale, just some is kinda dirty ,like the budget bear ammo.
just saying check the bore out if its a mid-late 90's gun that may have had corrosive rounds run through it or lack of bore cleaning from time to time IMHO

If you wanted to convert to a military type, there are fcg's out there for the 308 guns, if they are still made by rsa, that will give you three us parts.
