Many years ago,I converted many Brens to accept different Calibers ..Besides .303... I have change to 30-06 8m/m , 308 and 7.62x39... very unique ...The owner (who lived in Texas) of that MG had 5 ammo options..

Has anyone else done this?

I'd love to convert mine to 7.62x39.

texlurch and i are in the process of getting parts together to each build a MKII with 7.62 x 54r.. waiting on a few more semi-parts from pirate to come in.

i like the idea of the 7.62 x 39, maybe i need to do a little more research on it. anyone with information please post it.

i plan on doing an 8mm later.

i have a BREN MKII in .303 in a safe somewhere.

Whats all in that conversion?
what do you do for a barrel?

I think the 7.62x54r conversion consists of rechambering the barrel, locking shoulder and probably the bolt face.

Barrel, bolt and magazine if you want more than 10 rounds or so in the normal .303 magazine.

I knew Ken Snyder for many, many years, first meeting him in the mid 1960's. Went shooting with him many, many times. I shot my MG42 for the first time in his basement. He had a rifle caliber range in his basement.

He would tell stories about when he first stated collecting machine guns in the early 1950's, complaing about the $10 to $20 each he had to pay for them! He would order a bunch of DEWATS and half of them would not be welded in any way! Ken passed away a few years ago on the way home from the Knob Creek shoot. Was a real pleasure to have know Ken.
