Very good pictures and I like picture number 1 best. That USN knife really makes the picture. Is that called a deck knife?

I was going to use the top photo as my submission but Orlando used a US Flap Holster and 1911 in his photo...didn't want to duplicate anything.

i gotta ask, where do people get these background sheets of cammo, seems like some of you guys have them bigger than most rifles etc, and a jacket or pair of pants wouldn't be big enough. where do u guys get it?

I sell custom knives. I have a light tent for picture taking; as far as backgrounds (CAMO etc) the cloth is available from Joann Frabrics (36' wide); individual floor tiles (great backgrounds) from big box home supply stores like Home Depot. Some backgrounds I get at a local craft store in their scrapbooking section. I have a 20'x24" piece of granite, polished smooth on one side - it came from the Cemetary Headstone Mason's 2 blocks from my house. Here are a few examples:

Some lessons learned (I think I have 12,000+ images taken with this NIKON DSLR (digital single lens reflex). Use a tripod. Simple is better; try not to put too much in the shot. Learn how to compose the shot; most important though - learn how to manipulate a photo using your photo processing software; and practice....

I knew there was a reason I liked you CWO.....
Sometimes just a plain old towel (lint free is nice) or just out in the back yard in the dirt can work good.....:icon_biggrin:

Do either of you 2 guys have a website with your current items for sale? Or some kind of pricing guide? I LOVE knives, specifically hunting knives, and something custom made would be really cool to add to the collection... I might ask my wife to get me one for our anniversary coming up.

My website is
www.battlementknives.com (http://www.battlementknives.com)
It is in total disarray right now, I've been working on it, and having trouble getting it upgraded. I'm looking for a new hosting service but have too many other irons in the fire to mess with it right now. If you have an idea of what you want, scale or handle material, fixed blade or folder, plain jane or embellished etc. , I have a lot of pics of my different knives that aren't on the site, and can give you some examples if I know what you are looking for. Caution though, I'm about two months out on knife orders, got one I'm trying to finish for another member right now, he's been waiting for awhile. Wish I could quit my full time job, and just build knives and do some gunsmithing, but not just yet.

don't forget, lighting rules, that's always going to be top #1 of every photo and it depends on how you manipulate it... silhouette, heavy side light, soft box... the sky is your limit and let light play for you not against you.
With the right lighting, a $10 35mm disposable can look like a $1000 DSLR

Well that's interesting,,,loads right up for me. Try it again and let me know, this could be another issue I'm having with my hosting service.

my website is http://www.iwantthatknife.com; click on Photo Gallery to view. I am in the process of redoing the website and have found one or two knives with different prices. I will honor the lower of the two prices if you find it...

lighting is everything as Henry says. One of the hardest things to photograph is a knife because usually you have the bright shiny blade (unless its damascus) and then the dark contrast of the handle. Its like having to have a split lens camera.
