Hey Guys, need your input!
This weekend i found in my local gun show a guy selling a Springfield 1911 A1 GI Mil Spec 45, is new in the green plastic box, after haggling with him he will sell it to me for $560.0 out the door.
What do you guys think about the price and the gun?
Thanks for you input.
I may go back today ( NOW) and pick it up, but I'm not sold on the brand, never owned any other brands but Colts.

You might want to shop around a lil bit, I got my loaded Springfield for about that much and I love it as much as my Colt...

Price isn't bad, but it's not red hot for a GI model. You might do as good or better if you shop around like Old Jimmy says. As far as the quality and workamanship is concerned, every bit as good as a Colt, and I even think the metallurgy in them is better, parts are hardened a little differently on them than the way Colt does their guns, and I think they stay tighter. But that's just me.

Just re-read your post a little closer and saw the A-1 part. The A-1 IIRC has the extended bevertail, target trigger and novak sights is that right? If so, that is a pretty good price, the A-1 is a little upgrade to the plain jane mil spec.

Nope, I was wrong, all the models are A1 and the GI version is anywhere from 499 to 575 on GB. So your price OTD (including tax?) is probably as good as it gets without having to pay shipping etc. They are getting hard to find on the shelves here. I looked for awhile to get my loaded Champion, and I haven't seen one since.

Thanks Bladeworks, but i guess it was not meant to be!
I went back to the gun show this afternoon and sold my Ruger MkIII target Pistol I had since 1998 to help with the funds, and went back to the guy who had the Springfield GI and it was gone, sold.
I asked how much did he get for it and he said he got $599.00 for it.
So I will continue to look for a DEAL! :America::2pistol:

DANG! I hate it when that happens....I hope you find one, I have had a couple of them now, and I am real impressed with the quality vs price. I had the GI stainless and liked it so well I upgraded to the stainless Loaded Champion for a carry piece. I was skeptical on the guide rod and barrel bushing (or lack of) set up, but seems to be good to go. Accuracy was good on both and the action was pretty good just right out of the box.

Bladeworks That is a beautiful Piece!
I like it a lot, is that the shorter barrel 3.5 or the full size?
I can't tell, the picture looks like the shorter barrel!
But what ever size it looks awesome, maybe i will look for the SS.

No, this one is the 4" with 7 round magazine. I carried a 4 inch .45 for many years and guess I got used to it. I looked at the 3.5 inchers but wanted the 7 round magazines, so settled on this one.
