looking for some load recomemdations. I cast a 170 grain gas checked bullet and would like something that will function reliably without so much velocity that i have to deal with alot of leading.

Are you going to cast them for gas checks? That should allow you to use them at a high enough velocity to get the CETME to cycle without causing too much leading.

yes there gas checked. I figured to try to run them up around 2000 fps but dont know if that will do it or not and was wondering if anyone had any specific loads theyve used that worked.

I think to try running 2000 ft/s in a gas checked bullet is not good, youŽll get leading your barrell very soon, cause to get that velocity youŽll have to load at least 30 grains or more. According to some recommended loads, maximum for that bullets is 1558ft/s 20 gr of tubal 2000. Tubal 2000 is more or less like Dupont 3031, hodgdon BL C2, Hercules R7 and Nobel RP. This load gives a 16675 psi enough for that bullet.
As you know that amount of powder produce a great flame and easy to cast lead. I sometimes shoot with reduce loads for example: gas ckecked bullet and 15 or 20 gr. of T2000 so I can train without spend a lot of powder, here we have many difficulties to get powder.

found a load that seems to function the gun fine. Its the lyman 170 and 21 grains of wc820 a surplus powder that is actually AA9. Velocity is right at 1700 fps and brass believe it or not is in a pretty small area only about 10 feet away. I put about a hundred through it last night (no rapid fire) and there was no leading or failures of any kind.

Thanks for the info I cast to, but have been reluctant to make rounds for the CETME. What type of lube did you? I don't have a lube heater myself so I have to heat up Red Rooster in a tin and set the bullets up right. Then cut them out latter. So how did the bore look on the CETME after you shot that many cast rounds thru her?
