Raging bull 454

Today I added another and the first revolver to my collection, it was begging me to take it home.
I went to the West Palm Gun show and after walking the whole place I was just about to go home, but something real shinny caught my eye.

I'm not much of a revolver guy, but its a BEAST of gun!
Maybe after I Shoot it I will sell it, but I have to admit is a good looking revolver.

The guy that I got it from included an Uncle Mike's Holster and a box of 454 Hollow Points.

That is a possibility Planning, I heard they are a very powerful and a lot of recoil kick, but will see how it goes when I shoot it.

My 14 year old son wants to shoot it when I go to the range.

Will see if he still wants to, after he watches me and hears it when I shoot it!

I got a feeling he will change his mind.

Hey Planning would this gun stop a Bear? Or would you need a 500 or bigger custom caliber?
My Kid wants to know.

if you let you son shoot it, put a football helment with a face guard on him.:wink:

i don't know if that "gun will stop a bear", :rolleyes: maybe if you could hit the bear between the eyes with the butt of the pistol. :icon_biggrin:

This might sound ridiculous but .44 Magnum can stop bears and in some cases, well placed shots will stop an elephant. The .454 Casull is larger than the .44 Magnum and is more than enough to knock down any native wildlife on the North American continent.

I showed my son the chart, that was great, thanks Noskov, and also showed him the post by Planning about the football Helmet and he was cracking up laughing.

Will see if he still laughs after shooting it wearing a Football Helmet.

It'll stop almost anything on this planet! When Dick Casull was testing this round back in the '50's & 60's he was getting complete "pass throughs" on rhinos! That is POWER!
I owned both the Raging Bull & Rugers Super Redhawk & reloaded for them both. You can get anything from 225g to 405g bullets for them. My usuall hunting load was 350g WLNGC hard cast lead bullet over 35g of H110. The muzzle velocity averaged around 1750 fps with the muzzle energy at 1880 ft lbs at the muzzle!
Trust me when I tell you, this round is amazing! It does have a decent kick. More like a big push than a quick snap. You can also shoot regular 45 Colt rounds in this for plinking & for recoil sensitive folks. The 454 is really only a stretched out 45 Colt. Just like a 357 magnum is stretched out 38 special.
Enjoy it! Theres really nothing on this earth it can kill, right here, right now.

Did not get a chance to shoot it yet, is been raining here all day and the local indoor range does not let me shoot it in his range :icon_neutral: , he would only let me shoot the long colt 45 ammo, so I decided to wait till next weekend to shoot it with the 300 gr 454 to get the full effect of what it was meant to shoot!

It would be like feeding seeds to the HULK!
