I thought I had seen it talked about but can't find anything now. What is the original finish for a Yugo M70 and Romak?

Is the iron oxide similar to parkerizing or all together different.

One of the AK sites had a piece on polishing the carrier. Was this common to any AKs originally? Or the carrier being chromed on any of them?

Most are not. The Yugos are in the white but not polished. I did it to my first build, a AMD 65.

Sounds like mall ninja stuff to me..

Which military would want a bright shiny piece of metal on their rifle?

I didn't think so on the bright and shiny but wanted to double check. I know it's not cool to dive around Gar or Barracuda with a lot of shiny things on you but they sure make a lot of gear chromed.

The Chinese also leave the bolt in the white.
