My sideview mirror won't stay put on my old Chevy... Luckily, its a pretty common problem, and the extra mirrors are readily accessible at Auto Zone or any other place like that.
Ive tried JB weld and Gorrilla Glue... any other comments on what Glue will stick to Glass? Its smooth glass on both sides, no coating or anything on either side, so Im thinking maybe Ill have to scuff it up with something to get it to stick.......
any ideas?

Silicone, works, also uriathane ahehesive(the type for weatherstripping), and another is double side foam tape, and some times all three.
Another one might be hot glue. Thats what they seem to use at the factory, or what it looked like on my sideview. The glass shop used urithane and foam tape.

Maybe try using some of that glue made to glue rear view mirrors on windshields. Preparation is probably going to be the key. I'd scuff it with fine sand paper then clean it with denatured alcohol before gluing.

I Have Over 20 Years In The Auto Glass Trade The Best Thing To Use Is A Low Viscosity Urethane . Some Urethane Is Primerless And Some Are Not . If You Use The High Viscosty Urethane It Will Hold The Mirror Out Too Far Frome The Frame. Make Small Dots That Are High Enough To Mash Down And Make Contact To The Glass You Do'nt Need A Lot Or It Will Be A Pain To Replace If In The Future If You Needed To. Urethane Is Heat And Moisture Activeated And Dry At Differant Times Depending On Manufacturer So Tape Mirror In Place For About A Day. In Real Cold Places A Little Longer.

can you buy this Urethane adhesive at the local Home Depot?
Gorilla Glue is water activated too... and it worked good for a while I thought, but some dumbass I work with decided it would be funny to ducttape all my mirrors, and it pulled off with the tape and I dropped it and broke it.
Thanks for the tips... I figured somebody here worked in the auto glass industry.

You get the stuff at you local autoparts store, I am not sure if home depot would have the Urathine or not.

your best bet is to go into a auto glass replacement shop they might give you a half used tube. some parts shops have it but they will nail you on the price. they most of the time have 3m brand which for most stuff is real good but for urethane it sucks. essex brand is good oem stuff and adco is ok.they might just stick it on for ya for a few bucks. don't use silicone it won't hold well when it gets real hot out. also some mirrors can go on both ways but there is only one way it should go on. place the edge of a penny in the middle of the mirror the reflection should look like it is touching the penny if it looks like there is a little gap between the penny and the reflection you have the back of the mirror. auto mirror is not like house mirror notice no silver on the back. auto mirror is called transparent mirror. put the mirror close to you face and look at a light source and you will notice that you can see right thru it. i know this is way too much info for a simple thing but hey ya got me started

weird... I just figured I could do it either way... I wonder if I put it on backwards??? What does it look like, or what happens if you install it backwards?

You might just go to the glass shop, I think I paid fifteen bucks for two mirrors on my old truck(this was a couple of years ago though), that was cut and installed.
