I got my newsletter yesterday that says ATF has determined that scanned or e-mailed versions of licenses are also acceptable, in addition to faxes.

The letter also states:"It is ATF's position that any signature-whether it is done by hand with a pen, stamped, or auto-penned-is an original signature, if the person whose signature appears intends it as a original signature."

My FFL told me that was approved end of last year, but a lot of other FFL's still want a faxed and in some cases, original signed in ink.

It still comes down to the sellers decision I guess.

So, does that mean that, when my C&R license arrives, I can scan and email copies to dealers?

Yes...

Providing they agree to accept them.

Has been legal to fax signed copies for a while, but some still require a hard copy, signed in different color ink, thru the mail.

It is still up to the dealer/seller.

And yes, I'm sure some guys still want to do it the old way. Kinda like my Grandmother not trusting anything but cash.

That should make things a bit easier. Nice to see something going the other way for a change.
