Not sure who or how they were named, but those are also sold under the names of Romak 3, Romanian Dragunuv, PSL, and FPK.
Aint capitalism wonderful?

I really really want one of those. I've wanted one for about 16 years. They're such good looking rifles. I'm seriosly thinking of getting on the list at centerfire for a kit. Do yours shoot well? You just found them so maybe you haven't even shot them yet.

I wanted one for the longest time, but they were always sold out or too pricey. I finally built a 308 Saiganov clone, but plan on getting one from CFS to build now.
Ron, have I mentioned I hate you lately? LOL!!!!!

a guy on surplus rifle modded 20 rd saiga mags for his PSL, he then put US parts in it to be compliant

Those are really nice guns. I have a PSL SSG-97 from IO. Got the 6 power scope on mine. Shoots great and has never even given me so much as a hicup. I shoot light ball in through it, both 7N1 (still got a case) and Czech silver tip. Mine was very blonde, even blonder than planning's. I refinished it in more of a russian SVD red tone, matching the red grip plate.

What a problem to have, sooo many safes with soooo many guns in them that you don't know what you have. That would be like year around christmas.
I'll visit safes 15 thru 28 this year and see what's in them. Oh look! I DO have a BAR. What's in that warehouse? Oh yeah, 15 tons of ammo. I need more.

Only 400 cases. I don't want to be in Plannings neighborhood when the balloon goes up and a Hellfire hits that bunker.
On the other hand, if he'd put earth over his quonset huts and a sign on the road with something like "MUNITIONS STORAGE. cAPT RON COMMANDING" Maybe the army would make a few drops of 7.62 nato, etc.

Do we all think its just the love of firearms that drives Planning, heck that stash is also the college fund for the grandkids, his personal retirement fund too. Heck I think he has a far better return on his money than almost any other thing he could have invested in. I think classic cars might out strip it, but if the SHTF they aint worth much though.

All of the above, plus he just plain can't help hisself...
His retirement has been covered a few times over.. the gun thing is just his hobby, and he is just like the rest of us. Weak in the will power department, but better off to take care of his urges.
Plus he has been buying and selling stuff since the 70's, and has seen stuff come and go most of us can only dream of! Story time at Plannings bunker is a good time. Plan to spend the day!!

I handled a romak 3 but have never shot one....I noticed that the stock was a little short and the scope was set really high so that almost no cheek weld was possible.
I really shouldn't buy one but I might not be able to help myself. How are these to shoot guys?

Ok You convinced me...I'll start counting my change now...It might take a while as I just bought some 50bmg brass.
What was the standard scopes these were sold with? weasel_master and I were talking about these last night and thought they were 6X...Also do you recommend getting extra magazines for it or what?

im just using one mag, (10rds is enough for me) When the barrel gets hot my groups open up, but not really bad. I use it for precision shooting. With silvertip i was getting less than 1 inch groups (5 shots) at 100m with a bench. It was hard to believe.
mine came with a 4x scope. It works ok out to 300 meters, but for precision shooting i would go with 6x or 8x is probably best. Ive been looking for an 8x
They have some that are 3-10 or 3-9 or 4-10x but i prefer fixed mag
I half tempted to get this one:
http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=552
ive been trying to find out what exact reticle it has in it, because all the graphics on the site are all the same. I also wanted to know how the windage and elevation knobs are numbered but i cant get a strait answer, i think the people answering dont know english very well
