I know, I've been forever on this rebarrel. Won't have much time soon to Duracoat either. What is the best thing to solder the tripleframe with. Let me qualify that by saying I've got 1200 deg silver solder that we braze long drill bits with and holds very well. I want ease and reliability both. Any suggestions? I've shot it quite a few times with the set screw suggested by Big Steve with no issues. Not a lot of rounds though. The splines on this Korean G-3 barrel really hold the triple frame and give a nice place to solder too.
FWIW to any one out there. I went ahead and drill my sling pin in. I actually used a four fluted endmill bit, 5mm, using my 3/8 Dewalt home drill!! Perfect hole and went STRAIGHT through smooth and easy.
Sprayed the spots scratched up on the rebarrel with OTC paint to hold me over. I see some spots that need filling to make a nice finish. Would Parkaraizing cover the blemishes? I know Duracoat doesn't fill.
Off and On for a while. Moving to day work after 17years and covering 2 shifts for the rest of the summer. David

This is what you want to use:

STL 1205 SILVER BRAZE - Lowest temperature, high strength brazing alloy. For tight fitting joints, with minimum amount of fill. Use on ramps or ribs where the fit is very close.
You will want to remove the triple frame, and apply the paste in the hollowed section that is covered by the triple frame. Once the triple frame is reinstalled and aligned, all you have to do is heat it for the solder to flow between the parts.

sorry OT kinda... Did you ever get your FTE problems figured out?
If so, what was the remedy?

I think the FTE is fixed. I just can't get any time to shoot. The in-laws have housing going up around them and the public range is 25 miles and closed the one time I went.
I say it is fixed because I noticed my carrier group not going in to battery several times of dry firing. All that pounding to rebarrel may be a cause but I also noticed a rail not quite lined up with the trunnion so I squeezed in some using some scrap brass to keep from doing it in the wrong place.
Bottom line is I cleaned the heck out of it and dry cycled several hundred times to move whatever was binding it back out. Fired one shot at the closed range the other day to confirm zero and hit the target at 50 yards exactly center and one inch high. That's with the sight centered and flush with the base. The old rig had my sight screwed out better than 1/8 inch and way 3/4 right.
When I put my favorite mag in and fire it all out as fast as I can, I'll say it's fixed.
Job changed to days plus 11hrs M-F so hopefully a Saturday will come up. Public range is crowded on the weekend though. Maybe a taste of the old Chopo will scatter 'em.

First, thanks Rusty for the suggestion. I forgot my manners. That's the real deal you show and couldn't be easier.
Second,
On the FTE issue, I also forgot one thing. I did bugger up the cocking handle groove using a screwdriver to beat the carrier out with while setting the gap during rebarrel. I noticed a little bind while cocking and an occassionaly the handle didn't fall. You can't see it but it was just enough. I ran the finest needle file I had up and down until it didn't catch. This may have delayed the handle enough for the cam to not fold out of the way coupled with the tight receiver not letting the return spring do its thing. I still plan to get a new G3 spring from RTG and also get the trigger work from Bill.
OT, I bought a nice pressure washer to clean my porches and decks with. Took my mad money! But as God looks out for fools, my neighbors want theirs done too and the going rate is 150.00. I paid 250.00 for the pwasher, I undecut to 125.00 per job and may actually have more mad money.
I wanted an AR just cause everyone needs one, like em or not. I've got a real hankering for a Dragunov or rather the equivalent Chinese or Romanian one. Don't know why exactly.
