STG44 that is... if I had an extra 7 to 10K, that's what I'd look for... the Cetme's grandfather. Anyone ever fired one? There's a parts kit on Gunbroker... buy now is $4,450.00 I bet finding compliance parts would be a real biznatch! :D

actually the CETME is related to the STG45, not so much the STG44.
the STG45 has a roller lock delayed blowback action like the CETME, whereas the STG44 is tipping bolt locked gas operated, more similar to an FAL (sort of not really)
the only thing that the two really have in common is that the STG45 was an attempt to produce weapon that was lighter, simpler, and cheaper and quicker to produce than the STG44, so it was the next weapon in the progression of development, but they are completely different weapons otherwise

I think some one posted on the old board, that the Yugoslavians used the rifle up to just a few years ago. It was a photo of their special forces or paratroopers. Interesting that they were still utlizeing them, I guess there and in some other places in the world too.

I saw some pics on the web of some of Saddam's Elite Republican Guard armed with them. Apparently a number of them ended up in the Mid-East at some time or another.
Yeah, I know the STG45 was the first to use the delayed roller system, but the STG44 looks cooler. :icon_biggrin: and the gas expansion tube looks like a CETME cocking tube.

Well again Canada with it's restrictive laws trumps the US and our supposed 2nd Ammendment. The MP44 is being produced again in Germany and a US distributor was authorized to import the guns... then the German company and the BATF pulled the rug out from under him.

BUT!!! Canadians can own them....
