A quick question: How much ammo do you bring? IF I get a chance to come, I don't want to bring too much or too little. Seeing as how yo have a RO, I'll assume the shooting slows a bit.

On a regular shoot with the 1919a4 I go through about 1000 rds or so. No you can shoot a whole lot of ammo if you want. Pretty much I'm the R/O that calls time outs. Theirs is there for safety only. And the last couple have been great.

Count us in too! We'll be fashionably late as usual and take residence out in the sun. Keeps the ammo warm! We take 600~ rds of 9mm and 300~rds of 12g and bring some back home.

Things, IIRC, "seem to" get rolling 9-ish, and might go on until, usually around 1-2. So, it depends how fast you shoot, and how fast you reload.:icon_biggrin:
As Milsurp indicated.... the group rented that whole back part of the range, so there's no need for the R/O to get all bossy with us. I, for one, usually shoot long and hard enough that I'm ready and sitting down, sipping a bottle of water when the range goes "cold. All-in-all, not a whole lot of needless down-time. But neither is there a huge rush to run out and deal with the targets in a big hurry, everybody cooperates and it all runs very smoothly.
Don't worry, if you bring "too much", we'll help you burn through it...

no big deal there. i know how, and what you shoot for the most part. the way i reload might not help you very much. all my work is done on a single stage press and is mostly done for my bolt and long range target shooting. you could pickup most of what you needed to know from that, but you would wind up needing a progressive loader to keep up with that 1919.

NO steel core,NO tracer, nothing that might start a fire.

Just a reminder that the shoot is a few weeks away. I've been getting ready over the weekend and will continue till shoot day. Beats the hell out of staying up till 1am the night before. Been there, done that. Hope everybody can still make it. I'll call the range next week and request that the grass be cut and that Mickey the R/O be reminded that we are coming. And Herian67 are you bringing the grill again?

SOCOM, so yeah, Macdill :)
MacDill AFB is on a peninsula that juts out into Tampa Bay (supposedly, the motto during WWII training was "One a Day in Tampa Bay", referring to aircraft training accidents). If you draw a line 20 miles due south of MacDill AFB, zoom in with Google Earth, and, that's my house! A little ways due E of the S end of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. If your new buds there can snag one of those black choppers, feel free to rappel on down, and I'll buy you a drink. Look out for my radio tower, though. It telescopes, so, even if the pilots have a recent sitrep, it might be right, or not. 89' max tower height; the antennas etc. on top won't make it much more than 100', and I'm sure you guys have ropes longer than that. FWIW, it nests down lower than the oak trees when fully retracted.

Hay guys I am driving down from jax with a friend of mine. What is the distance of the range we will be on? I did notice a question about a grill. So should we bring some grill food?

I went to this a couple years ago as a spectator not a shooter as I was from out of state and didn't own my full auto yet. It was a very nice range, friendly staff and looked like a well run group. I took lots of pictures too. Maybe next time I come down I will try and schedule it so I can be there when this takes place again. If you do go, you won't regret it. ;)

Well, no, to answer your question: NO!
Well over twenty years ago, we, had to "agree" to some place.......blah blah blah blah blah.... at any rate, we got screwed out of some place local to shoot. The place we're are VERY HAPPY to have was the result of that but, NO, if YOU are within 1 MILLION miles of a lead particle, YOU WILL DIE. In an unpleasant fashion.
Looking forward to seeing you there, (well, NOT, see the certs below)

Like Randy stated we are out in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure you"ll pass a publix on the way there but the nearest store that I know is 20 miles to the west. I don't know about the east. We'll see you there and glad you can make it.

I grew up in bradenton/ palmetto till 90, then moved to north florida. The only memory I have of myacca is a local asking me what state I was from, he had a heavy southern accent and because I was from a costal area I did not sound like him. I bet the area has changed. Hope to see you all there:America:

Ok guys. For the last 4 days I have been with my wife at her fathers bedside as he is very close to leaving this world. I need to ask one of you fellow MF members to act as a stand by in case I won't be able to make it to the shoot. Anyone interested please PM me and I'll go over it with you. I do plan on attending if possible or maybe coming to start it off and then leaving. Just thought I'd get a backup just in case.

Thank you for your prayers guys. Things have not changed much but it could be anytime now. I have received 2 PM's about helping out and I really appreciate it. I tought about it and basically the only thing you guys would have to do would be to collect the money and pay the range. I usually take the range fee of 200.00 and a tip for the R/O about 30.00-40.00 and divide by the amount of shooters. other than that jut make sure they sign the sign in sheet. 7.62guy has stated he would take care of this for us. Mhp34one if the need arises for a back up I would be greatful to you if you would take care of it. I was going to PM you guys seperately but figured it would just be easier to post here once. I am still planning to come down to start it off and leave if I have to return home.

Alright another shoot in the history books. I had a great time. I would like to thank mhp34one for letting me shoot his sterling F/A it was the highlight of the day. He also gets the farthest travel to the shoot award. This was the largest attendance at a shoot so far. And mhp34one I'll bring a box of 9 to you at the next shoot if you can make it. I had Wolf today but I didn't think you would want to put that through the sterling. I want to hear from everybody as to when you all want another one. Let's make it a good one as this will be number 10. And all you members in other states are more than welcome to come on down to the Gunshine State and shoot with us.
