A couple of months ago I found a Mauser barreled action in a box full of junk gunparts I inherited from my Uncle. Almost all of the metal parts were with the gun. The rear sight was off the barrel and there were tool marks where the site had been, but the sight was complete in the box.
I asked you guys if I should try and put it back together or just sporterize it and forget it. You guys suggested putting it back to as close to military condition as I could (that's what I wanted to do anyway.)
So I got a junk stock from a 98k Russian Capture rifle. A couple of barrel bands from Numrich, and unmatched solid wood handguard from Ebay.
Here's a couple of pics of it, I've done nothing to the stock, it is as I got it.
I put it on an extremely ugly chair in my office, it makes the rifle look a lot better than it actually is... :icon_biggrin: It is just about complete, I just lack a reproduction front sight hood and strap.

Is there a bolt in that thing?

Yeah there's a bolt, the bolt is the one that was with the barreled action when I found it. It is unmatched for the action but all the parts are matched for the bolt, but someone cut the bolt handle off and rewelded turned over, so it would clear a scope mount.
I am looking for another 98K bolt I'll use that bolt in another gun that I am building out of left over parts. It's gonna be a real Frankenstein, Brazilian stock, turkish large ring barrel and either a Czech or Yogoslav action, with a 98K Russian Capture trigger guard/magazine.:icon_biggrin: The stock is perfect, perfectly horrible. There isn't a damage mark on the stock, but it is got what looks like a 1/8" layer of polyeurethane on the wood.
