Don't know if this post belongs here since it's Yugo and not German, but I figured the M-53 is bascally a reworked German MG42.

Anyhow...any word yet on the Century M-53???...anyone even seen one yet in person??? I have one on order and figured it'd be a while before I seen one, but was just wondering.

I just read on another forum that someone just received the 10 they ordered from Century. At least they are shipping :) He said he serial numbers were around 30 and came in a custom plywood transit case.

Here is the thread.

he says first of 10, so being under 30 in the serial number we may have LONG LONG LONG LONG time to wait for those of us who ordered one. I hope mine comes quick but i know there are lots of people ahead of me. Right now im trying to find an mg34 or find a way to sell my bren and get one. Ive almost started collecting only german stuff.

After reading this I called to my Century rep and she said she still didn't know when I would receive mine, she wasn't even aware they had began shipping any. I've got my hopes up now that this my still come to be (I was starting to wonder).

I also called my FFL again just to update them with my info so that they'd know what it is and who's it is if ever shows up there. I don't mind waiting longer, I'm just happy to hear they are beginning to trickle out. My dealer can't wait to see it either BTW.

Don't know where I am on the list but, I should be somewhat early...keeping my fingers crossed....:machinegun:

You can bet they will ship to all the big FFL dealers first...Centerfire, Coles, Aim, whoever. I think the tap has been turned on though...which is a good sign for ya'll.

It'll be interesting to see prices on accessories for the mg42 as more people buy the 53's. Belts, mounts, loaders, etc.

I saw the samples at Knob creek, thay look good, I can't believe they will be selling for around $2,500.00.
They did an excellent job on the rear receiver sections, they look a little different then a real one but for the money if they work, who cares.
The fit and finish was very good and these were test guns. even if they have problems thay are well worth the price.

Has anyone actually taken a delivery on one of these yet? I've had mine on order for a quite a while now...just wondering if anyone has heard anything at all on these.

Thing is I've been stashing the funds for this gun on order (I really want one), but if it's never going to be I’ve been seeing some other stuff I'd like to buy. I'm willing to wait, but I'd like to hear some kind of info from Century, but my rep isn't saying anything on these guns when I ask.

I mean if it’s a no-go, that’s fine and thanks for trying Century, but it sure would be nice to know what’s up.

i tryed shooting my first built last weekend and it still has a lack of recoil to cycle. i think i might get a 308 booster for it and go from there. i cant believe in this day and age you cant get something you have already paided for. my hot rod years have taught me to just build it if you want it!:America:

Apparently there was still some tweaking to be done on the finished product. Just a few bugs to work out. I was told that those problems have been corrected and the "rifles" should be on the way in a short time.
Do you want a $2500 "rifle" that malfunctions or are you willing to wait until the product is trouble free. That's the question you have to ask yourself. I waited for 7 months for a DSA FAL receiver. It was worth the wait. As someone who has built a semi mg42 I know the problems that you can run into when building one of them. I'm still not satisfied with the firing pin set-up on mine. It works great with mil-surp, but it still needs some tweaking. BTW, some of you guys will know me as "propos" over at mg42, so you know that I know what I'm talking about.
Now if we could only get the '86 ban rescinded, I've got $200 I'd like to shove Uncle Sugar's way for permission to build the Yugo M-53 kit I have still in the box into the real McCoy. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing. No more ban on new mg's. Never happen though considering the critters we have in office today. And likely to have in the future.

I’ve still got one ordered, haven’t heard anything on them. I don’t mind the wait so long as I know it’s coming some day and will be done right.

The only real problem with these that I can foresee is it’s taken so long since it’s inception that the once plentiful and cheap 8mm ammo has all but dried up which may make them a hard sell if and when they do come out. I’ve still got enough romy stashed it’s not an issue to me, but it might be to some.

Don't feel bad. I built mine to use the cheap 7.62. By the time I was done, that dried up. So when I got around to getting an 8mm setup, that dried up. Maybe I'll re-engineer mine to use 30-06. But that will dry up too. The days of cheap surplus are about over I think. I don't think that the 7.62x39 has enough oomph to cycle the action on a semi mg42. But it's a thought. Problem is the belt but maybe an RPD belt might work. Uh-oh. Another crazy idea is forming.
