How long is that lamp going to last at 9V? Those batteries go for $2 to $3.5 each, unless they're on sale. Suppose the plastic lens melts?

Alot of places have the SureFire CR 123 batteries for 1.50. Try police supply stores. I would like the mod better with an LED. Battery life would triple. I was wondering about the heat issue also. For the price it would be worth a try. Here is great place for flashlight info.

He could have done without the spray paint.

In my opinion l.e.d.s are a terrible illuminating light source. Sure they might be bright to look at, and when your shining it at a close object. But anything more then 5-6ft away they are use less.

I like that, especially if you are just going to throw it in the truck.

MID, they are now making lights that have LEDs and a big bright ass bulb. I like LED lights because the batteries last forever. My LED light has worked for the last 4 years duck hunting and I'm impressed with it in the field.

I have some LED lights that are over 120 lumens. You can get LED replacement bulbs for mini maglights that put out over 100 lumens. Most of your ballistic lights like the Scorpian are 65 lumens.
Check out these LED replacement modules

Forgot about those K. He is right, I put LED bulbs in my 2 cell and 3 cell maglights and they are brighter then the original. The bulbs are pricey though.

They are. But they never need replacement, and they are nearly impervious to recoil and impact.

In addition to being a gun geek,I am a flashlight geek. I must have the latest, brightest mod for my lights.
Plus in my line of work any type of light is a write off.

Forgot to add,CR123 batteries now come in rechargeable.

Walmart and Target sell Brinkman knock-off's of the surefire for about $18. I bought one, and they are great flashlights, very bright.
LED's rock. I replaced the bulb in my mini maglite with a 3-led unit. It is way brighter than the original bulb. I also use an LED head lamp for camping. When you are in the woods at night, it throws an incredible beam qiute a distance. The battery life is terrific, a consideration when backpacking and not wanying to carry alot of extra batteries. I even hang it in my tent without worrying about using up the batteries.

Those Brinkmans are great! One of the best deals out there.
