I've been looking for a dog for the past few months. I found one at the local Humane Society and fell in love with her. After a month, we finally got to bring her home. My girlfriend absolutely loves her as well. She's extremely laid back and loves to just sit and get pet but she isn't persistent about it.

Cool...glad to see you rescued a fine dog like her. Dogs are such great companions to have around. What did you name her? My best little buddy is named Cuda BTW.

WM, What did you name her? She looks real good for a pound dog.
This is my dog. She is a mutt but she is good with kids & will follow me way out into the swamp.

Sorry I hi-jacked your post.

Fine looking dog! Some of our best dogs have been from the pound. Here is my "shadow". If she had her way, she would go everywhere with me.

Very good looking dogs all of you have. We have 5 and are at our limit without a kennel licence in our area I believe. I would post pics but I hate having to put them on another server to do it. That is why I seldom if ever will be posting pics. However we have two Springers, one Old English Sheepdog, a Shizh Tzu, and a Miniture Pincer.

When we got her, her name was Scarlet and the girlfriend wanted to keep it so that's what we stuck with.

Congrats, Both of our pups are from the pound also. That's the only way to get a dog as far as I'm concerned unless it's a specific purpose like rescue, seeing eye, police, etc.....

Here is my little pal Cuda. He's a Chow and Hound mix (I call him a Chow Hound). He loves playing catch and fetching.

Great looking dog. She looks like a black Lab.

In my book labs are the best all around family and companion dog out there.

There are extremely loving, family oriented, wanting to please, loves to rides and walk along side, great with kids and outsiders, etc.

I wish you many years of happiness with her.

We have 3 dogs, the rat dogs are not worth the camera battery. I call'em shark bait to torment of my 9 yr old. I like the rat dogs but the only thing they seem to do is take a dump every where.:1092:

That's Fiona. She's an Airedale Terrier, and probably certifiably insane. :)

THIS THREAD ALMOST GOT MY DOG KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is why.
After reading this thread I decided to take her with me & my 2 youg'ins out to my sisters horse farm. My sis is having a horse show there tomorrow so me & the kids were going to go clean up the ones they will be riding. Now, my sis has 3 blue heelers that will on occasion work the horses. Unfortunatly for my dog, she was not aware that the horses don't like dogs. After washing one horse my dog, as always, was right on my ass. So were the Bluse heelers. The next thing I know I hear what could best be discribed as a 90 mph fast ball being knocked out of the park...bongk!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then my dog starts yapp'n & I know she is dead. Luckily it just made her eye swell up & she must have bit her tounge cause there was a little blood in her mouth. Remarkably, she was chasing the tennis ball 15 minutes later like nothing ever happened. I always knew she was hard headed.

We got Smokie (original name) from the humane society three years ago, when he was 7 years old. He had belonged to an elderly lady who took ill and eventually died. She raised him very contra-breed (Dalmation) to be laid back and easy to work with. He obeys simple verbal commands and hand signals and will come up to you and jingle his dog tags when he needs to go to the bathroom. Good house dog. Unfortunately, he's scared to death of the crack of a gun. We have a beautiful range where he can romp and explore while I shoot, but he's under the car at the first crack. Tried all kinds of stimulus/reward approaches to get him over it, even ear plugs which he hated. Eventually, I decided to just leave the old fellow home. He worships the ground I walk on and tolerates the wife and daughter, the extent of which depends upon what kind of bribe they're offering. Anyway, I love him dearly and worry that some day he will leave us and take a piece of my heart with him. Until then, he gets a good life and the respect any loyal pet deserves.

Nice dogs everyone! My fiancé and I have an Austrian cattle dog I think he has a little dingo in him also. He is a bit of a hand full but a lot of fun.

looks like she's 2-4yrs old.

I also have owned all mutts and rescued dogs. The price is right, and they're fun. Own recycled animals, I say!

My terrier mix dies about 4 yrs ago, was a Benji-lookin dog, lived to 14yrs old. Another was sick by about 6, and had to be puut down.

The last one, me wife nipped off with, so I'm talking a break until me daughter's old enough to take care of a dog. I do dig dogs, tho. All of them.

"THIS THREAD ALMOST GOT MY DOG KILLED"
-->Yikes! You can't blame that on a thread, tho--that' like saying that Ozzy Ozbourne's music made you kill some gamer geeks or something. ;)
Glad the pup's OK...I've seen a dog get kicked like that at my uncle's in TN, and the dog lost a few teeth but was fine. Same "dog catapault" effect, I think since dogs are lighter, they take less damage from inertial overcome than a humna getting kicked...all bets are off with a stomp, tho.

I'm so glad you rescued a dog. They appreciate it. I'm in the planning stages of rescuing a pug from some "Wet Backs" right now (That's what the Mexicans call them, so I'm going with it).

the layout is here...... http://i3.tinypic.com/63jv439.jpg

They let him roam around chasing trucks and such. They don't care if he gets hit.

Well, y'all have seen FIDO & Beagle, but have you seen "Birdie"?.....She's a bird dog that I loved but couldn't take her with me from the ranch when I broke up with the chick. I miss her, but she's found a loving family and I get reports.

If you still need to see FIDO & Beagle check out..
