Well alot of the preppy kids at my high school like to throw big senior dinner parties and what not since we are graduating next week, but I decided that I would have a shooting party instead. so my dad, brothers, shooting buddies, and I went to the range today, and we had a blast :2pistol:

first we started off at the handgun range. We shot the CZ-82, CZ-75, Glock 19, Glock 30, and SA XD .45

here's (http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/hunter_la5/?action=view&current=2.flv) a video of someone shooting at steel plates with a Glock 19 (9mm)
and here's (http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/hunter_la5/?action=view&current=3.flv) my brother shooting his CZ-75

I mostly just shot my CZ-82 (9x18 makarov). My groupings weren't great, but they were passable I guess. I'll post pics of the target later. I had my first malfunction, with wolf ammo, in which the round failed to feed properly and jammed the mechanism somehow. It functioned fine with 1000 rounds of Polish Mesko surplus, and on the 14th round of Wolf it messed up. just great. and the Wolf is DIRTY as all get out

Then we headed over to the skeet range and did some skeet shooting with the Winchester Model 70, Browning BPS, some old early 1900's era Remington auto shotgun that resembles the Browning A-5, and a single shot break-open 20 guage

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/hunter_la5/skeet.jpg

Then we went over to the sniper range to plink at 300 and 400 yard metal gongs the size of human torso's. We used the CETME, my bro's FAL, a couple Yugo M70ab2's (ak underfolder), and the Mosin Nagant M91/30, all iron sights.

With the CETME, we were able to hit the 300 yard gong nearly every time. at 400 yards, we hit about 2/3 of the time. I hit 4 out of 5 shots :airtight: I was very pleased  not malfunctions of any kind. It was one of the favorite guns of the day, no suprise

with the Ak's we could hit about 2/3 - 3/4 (depending on the shooter) of the time at 300 yds and 1/4 - 1/2 the time at 400 yards, which was better than I was expecting. And who said the max effective range of the AK is only 300 meters? :icon_neutral: No malfunctions, no duh, its an AK

With the Mosin we could hit the 300 yard gong about 1/3 - 1/2 of the time. the sights aren't quite on, and the trigger pull is LONG, so I wasnt too suprised.

the FAL sights mysteriously lost zero in transit, and it was shooting way high, so we didnt shoot it very much :icon_confused:

Overall, a great day. one of the best (and longest) range trips Ive had in a long time

Congratulations on graduateing. Wasn't in to firearms as much then as I am now, sounds like you had a good time though. Highschool is a good time, it dont get much better in my opnion, college is tougher, the summer I had between was a good time.

WAY TO GO HUNTER!

I was a passable Hi School student, but a good college student. College was much cooler for a buncha reasons...

"And who said the max effective range of the AK is only 300 meters?"
-->Color me Impressed...I thot 400yds was max effective range too. I know the SKS I have pushes that same round flatter and further than my AK...its a muzzle veloicty thang. I've only shot my WASR-10 AK out to 200yds...but it seems to do the job nicely at 100yds or under.

If you practice with the mosin and the irons, it really starts to shine at 300yds.

Thanks for the compliments and the congrats guys!

to answer your questions, this summer I will be working at a summer camp to save up for college, and then I will be attending Oklahoma University in the fall on a scholarship (if it werent for that I woulda stayed in Texas :) )

as promised, here are my mediocre groupings from the pistol range:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/hunter_la5/target.jpg

the squares are all roughly 1x1 inches, for scale. the bottom group is 12 rounds, slow fire, 7 yards

the top group was 12 rounds, right hand only, slow fire, 7 yards. it was actually better than my 2 handed grouping

the left group was 12 rounds, fast as i could regain sight picture, basically dumping the mag, 7 yards. oddly enough it was about as good as m slowfire group. I'm not sure if that says something good abot my rapid fire or something bad about my slowfire :icon_neutral:

the group on the right was 12 rounds, drawing and firing 1 round from the holster as fast as could get sight picture.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/hunter_la5/Target2.jpg

now for the second target

the top group was 15 yards, medium firing pace, 12 rounds. as you can see it opened up quite a bit, but that's my fault, not the gun's. kinda embarassing really

the bottom group is another slowfire, 7 yards, 2 handed 12 round group. as you could see it is significantly better than the first one, and probabl represents my average groupings with this gun

I cleaned my pistol today, and after only 75 rounds it was full of gunk and soot. I'm really not liking this Wolf ammo very much, i need to find some more surplus ammo :(

Good job on finishing school and deciding to go on to college. As for the
shot groupings with a handgun, keep practicing, but none of those shots
would fail to put down or at least give a bad guy a bad day.
