I've put the requirements of MIL-G-46003-A Grease, Rifle into a spread sheet on lubricants. I've researched about thirty different lubricants and put the data into this spread sheet. Some data was not available through searches online but there's quite a lot in it already.

If you would like a copy of this comparison spread sheet of lubricants, just send me a request to leeace99@hotmail.com Please include your user name. I'll delete your e-mail upon reply. You will not be added to any marketing list.

I've updated the spread sheet on soft lubricants. I finished up today, July 03, 2007. There's thirty-six lubricants that I have collected data on. If you would like a copy of this spread sheet, send me an e-mail request to leeace99@hotmail.com

Based on data I was able to obtain which included several phone calls to various grease manufacturers, the top two choices for M14 rifle grease are 1) Lubriplate 630-A and 2) Lubriplate 130-A. These two greases meet or exceed the military specification for rifle grease, MIL-G-46003-A. Plastilube meets the specification as well, I just haven't been able to obtain the test results.

The other greases researched are fine products but either data was not available for the various properties specified in MIL-G-46003-A or they don't meet the military needs of the M14, e.g., the oil in the grease is not within the specified viscosity range or the water washout test result is above the requirement, etc.

FYI, the technical support representative at Mobil Oil informed me that they have discontinued production of the AW series grease.

E-mail sent back.

This is free information and I delete your e-mail as soon as I send the spread sheet back to you. You decide what you want to do with the information but it doesn't hurt to have it stored on your computer for reference.
