Paris festival called off after anti-American threats
May 20 05:07 PM US/Eastern

A Paris festival celebrating US music and culture has been called off following a series of anti-American threats, organisers said on Sunday.
Called "Three Days in America", the festival featuring country and gospel concerts, line-dancing, sales of US paraphernalia and a tribute to Elvis Presley was to take place from May 26 to 28 in Saint Cloud, southwest of Paris.

Organisers issued a statement saying they were forced to postpone the event following "persistent pressure and threats of an anti-American nature".

"At first we thought it was a joke when we received a letter with a mixture of threats, mentioning Al-Qaeda and full of spelling mistakes," said Chantal Tenot, the festival's press officer.

But after several threatening phone calls the organisers decided Friday to file a police complaint and call off the event.

Paris anti-terrorism investigators have been alerted and the festival organisers are to meet foreign ministry officials on Monday to discuss the situation, Tenot said.

She said the organisers hoped to reschedule the festival -- which last year drew 15,000 visitors -- in the autumn.

I get a kick outta the term "Paris anti-terrorism investigators."

French govt: Hey, izzis the Paris anti-terrorism investigators?
Paris anti-terrorism investigators: Oui Oui, sir!
French govt: Could you swing by and investigate these threats?
Paris anti-terrorism investigators: Oui Oui, sir! (Pause) Yes, we have found terror in Paris.
French govt: Sacre Bleu!

Wow, that is cool. Now I know what I have to do to get my new nuke sub, threaten the French!

Three Agosta 90Bs were ordered by the Pakistan Navy in September 1994. The first, Khalid (S137), was built at DCN’s Cherbourg yard and was commissioned in 1999. The second, Saad, assembled at Karachi Naval Dockyard, was launched in August 2002 and was commissioned in December 2003. The third, Hamza, which has been constructed and assembled in Karachi, was launched in August 2006 and will commission in 2007.

Work on the third vessel halted after a terrorist attack in May 2002, which killed 11 French engineers in Karachi. It has since restarted.

So France which has that problem with cars being torched in large numbers, also can't safely put on a festival. The media loves to portray America as being violent and dangerous, while France is supposenly peaceful and civilized. Its getting more and more obvious that the truth is the exact opposite.

Aint that the trouth? Imagine if we had 3 weeks of rioting in 274 towns and torched nearly 9000 cars and dozens of buildings, daycare centers, and schools. What would the world think of us then? http://riotsfrance.ssrc.org/
The last paragraph could be talking about the US or France, both governments are equally guilty of not doing their job.
