Awesome man! I've got the kit...I just wished I lived where I could get a receiver without all the hawaii BS issues.

What does Hawaii do? ....not questioning just curious what more "infringements" have been played out on us.

BTW that is one cool looking rifle, I was just looking at a kit for one of those...it's too bad you don't see what your buying first but then that takes away from the whole fun of it waiting for that mystery pkg to arrive from UPS or whatever...

Thanks everyone! I could not have done it without all the help here at MF.com!!

My dad had an XM-16 in Vietnam in '67-'68 with a three-prong flash hider and solid (no trap-door) butstock), but I was going for the M16A1 look of the birdcage hider. Kinda like we had in the Australian Army in the 1980s ('girls' gun' and scout rifle) and in East Timor in the 1990s.
HOWEVER, what I have actually used is an A2 FN-made barrel for now. Eventually I want a pencil profile 1:7 twist fully chrome-lined mil-spec barrel - but until I find one I had a free A2 I could use.
The Aluma-Hyde II finish looks great up close. If is actually very flat, but because it has some park-like texture it holds old pretty well to give a slight sheen after cleaning.

Pencil barrel or not, it is still a sweet rifle. I hope she shoots as good as she looks.

Which upper receiver did you use? And where did you get the furniture. It looks like it all matches pretty well.
