Mine is an Underwood and just as my Garand it is serial number
dated as a 1941. It also is a re-arsenaled rifle and a few parts
are not of the correct time, like the rear sight and the barrel
band shouldn't have a bayonet lug.

Did you refinish yours K98 or is that how it came? It sure is a beauty.

Thanks man! It has some kind of rack number stamped into the heel of the pistol grip. It was pretty dry when I got it. Rubbed it down with some medium steel wool, and put BLO on it every day for a couple of weeks. Every time I shoot it I clean it and put Sheath all over the metal and bore. Then I put Howard's Feed and Wax on it. Let it sit for 20 minutes and wipe it down. I use this on all my oil finish wood stocks.

Here is my July 1943 Inland. I have not refinished it. I have added a couple coats of BLO to clean it up. The bore is decent with a little errosion near the muzzle. On a good day with WWB it will produce 4-5 inch groups at 100 yards. It eats all sorts of ammo with no problems at all. It is a mixmaster that rattles just like the M2 that I carried on duty in 1961-2 in Germany before I traded it in on a brand new M-14.

My 1944 dated postal meter and correct underwood barrel. US issue 1943 issue mag pouch and 1945 dated sling.
The steel pot cover is US issue from the 50s with the bug net.

IBM M-1 Carbine, Dec 44 with original barrel. Its a pretty decent shooter and after I put all new springs in it, it functioned perfect.
The sling is an unissued WW2 original I found at www.atthefront.com . The repro mag pouch came from the same place, best WW2 reproduction I've ever seen.

Everything is matching (inland), except the stock...been thinking about swapping the M2 wood, out for an M1A1 folder.

My father inlaw has a Rockola collecting dust in his closet. I have spent the better part of 8 years attempting to talk him out of it. The worst part of this story is before I was part of the family he promised it to my sorry ass brotherinlaw who doesn't even like guns and has told me he would pawn it before he sold it to me. As you can tell we don't get along.

Here she is the day the Fedex guy droped her in my hands. She now sports the required mag, sling, oiler and ammo pouch. It was worth the wait.

Just realized I never posted my Underwood baby. It is a "B" coded (Singer sub-contracted) receiver with post war upgrades. Was used in Israel as a Mash Az Civil Guard rifle, then re-imported into country. (The white stamped serial number on the left side of the stock is typical of Mash Az carbines.

I wanted to take off my original cartouched NPM stock in a gun sock in the safe, and keep it in great shape, since I use the Underwood as a house/farm gun and shooter, and I plan on shooting it in some 100 yard matches in the spring. I prefer the feel of the pot belly stocks for shooting. I finally got a SA pot belly mounted on my Underwood.
It was pretty well BLO finished, so I just did a fresh up coat of BLO/Mineral Spirits two nights ago. Went on perfect, and the recoil lug mounted perfect where there was no barrel deflection in any direction except lifting the barreled action slightly in the channel to slide the Type 3 Barrel band assembly on. Cleaned up a NOS cosmo coated buttplate I had (I have no idea the make, as I can't tell the, apart!).
Since I replaced the stock, I replaced the flip safety with an "EW" type three I have that has been kicking around in my parts since I don't know when. I prefer the push safety, since it mirrors the 870 police shotgun safety I used for 20 years. The flip is in a baggie with the NPM stock and handguard in a gun sock in the safe.

The stock I got with my Inland racker was badly cracked, so they replaced it. I lucked out, big-time! Here's a pic of my Rockokla, intact high wood, I Cut stock wearing my Inland racker (ME of less than 1.5, I might add)! The Handguard is a 2 rivet "LW" Winchester bull-nose with a deep channel.

I may only have one carbine now, but at least she is sweet and has a pretty dress (stock)!
Here's the stock cartouches: Actually, they are all visible. You can see them better in real life, as I never claimed to be a photog!

New member here!
Learned about your forum after I bought some Indian 7.62 ammo...oops.
Have a '43 Saginaw SG mixmaster thats a blast to shoot. ..although I can't hit the broadside of a barn door with it! It does what it was meant to do....shoot more accurately than a 1911.

I recently traded my Taurus .44 revolver and my (POS jam-o-matic) XD-40 for an M1 Carbine. It was a little beat-up looking at first, but after disassembling and oiling/cleaning it, it already looks a lot better. Hopefully I can try it out at the range as soon as my next paycheck comes in and I can afford to buy ammo.
Here's a couple pics:

The pictures are of 4 of my M1 carbines - National Postal Meter;Underwood;Winchester; and Saginaw. After building a decent M1 Garand collection I decided earlier this (well now last year (2011)
to get some M1 carbines. I had passed by them many times in the past in gunshops, but to my surprise they had disappeared. Further, they were now hot property and had jumped in price.
I manage to get these 4, 2 of which I did considerable work on. SOG has had M1 carbines brought back from Isreal listed for $695.00 for several month now. I am interested, but can't find
anyone that has bought one and wonder what kind of condition they are in. They maybe picked over now. If anyone has any info on the quality of what SOG is selling please let me know.
Thanks!
