Tula, steel case, 150 gr. Berdan, non-corrosive.

$4.99 for a box of 20, drops to $4.79 for 25 or more boxes. 500 rd. cases.

Has anyone tried this? I am really tempted to drop the bucks for about 1500 rd.

btw, it's fmj, but the box they show says "Hunting Ammo." Seen this somewhere else recently--are ammo companies/importers trying to throw the ban crowd off the scent?

theres a thread here somewhere very recently where i voiced my opinion on tula ammo.

but again, for that price, id still buy it, but its nothing id want to depend on. thats 223 price for 308, hard to go wrong for plinking ammo.

******** at that price you cant go wrong to buy 200rds n give it a shot. That way you know if its junk if you see it on sale again in future.

Ninja edit --

copes has a case of 500 for $129.99 with 7.99 shipping

If I'm not mistaken, either Cabela's or Dick's Sporting Goods has the same thing fro $3.99 a box. You can order, and pick up at the store.

The price looks just right, but I'm affraid to run steel case ammo on my dsa fal.

Yeah, my DPMS AP4 eats both 7.62 and .308 just fine. Well, not brown bear, cases get stuck.....

I have not tried the Tula 308 but I do have some of the .223. It shoots pretty well out of both my AR's. Out of my heavy barrel DPMS that I have it shoots 3 shots into about 1.25" at 100 yds. I have had no misfires or stuck cases at all. Paid 3.95 at CTD. If the 308 shoots as well as the 223 its well worth the 4.00 per box price.

In general its good to see the prices going down, I got a case of the tula steel .223 earler this month for less than two hundred, thus less than four dollars a box.

I would shoot it all day long in a CETME.But,I will not shoot it in my PTR or FMP;do to the dirtyness and the red STAINING on the bolt face,do to the red inked annealed primers. Its not as dirty as some other russian stuff. But it is much harder on your Extractor. Not to mention, they have been known to have HARD primers[wich i have expereinced].. But ,its fine in a shooter or a beater. I strictly shoot Portugese, hirtenberger, prvi partisan, radway green, igman, fnb belgian and S&B 150gr and most quality NATO.These G-3 types of barrels do not show much difference in accuracy with 168gr or higher .308.[ And yes,I know the TULA is only 150gr].BUT, Unless you handload or shoot with a scope past 300 meters do to the 1&12 twist. Most bolt rifles or match barrels have a 1&10 twist for heavier bullets. Battle rifles like CETME,S and G-3 rifles were not meant to shoot match ammo;not that it wont work. Its just a waste of good ammo in the wrong rifle. They are battle rifles not SNIPER weapons. And they were disigned to shoot MAN sized targets, not groups PER SAY. Just my expereinces guys. Shoot it up,if you like.

on the comment about steel vs brass in the .308 winchester, I believe all bets are off on the case diffrential. The material being steel, has totaly different reactions to the case drawing and even the expansion into the flutes, thus just get a broken case extractor as some times just being steel will make them seperate, and I believe the one on this board wasnt at the shoulder but near the base.

Just what I remember about these.

Well... The steel cased .308 works fine in a CETME... Maybe not in a FAL...

Be ready for a seperation, and keep an broken case extractor handy.

ON the price, I just thought of the other reason for the falling prices of Russian and other Europian ammos, the Euro has lost a good chunk of value in the last six months to the dollar. I think nearly twenty five precent to his high in 2008.
