Here is my 1919 model 96 Swedish Mauser. The bolt number matches the Rifle SN but many small parts don't match. Like most of these fine rifles, this thing is a real shooter.

My 1916 Carl Gustav, it has no import mark and it used to have a yellow stripe on the comb and decal on the stock showing bullet drop and different ranges.
I foolishly removed it years ago and you can still see the square where it was. The bayonet is Navy marked with a Anchor and the Swede Crown (at least I assume it is). I love these and rifles and think the 6.5 Swede is one of the finest whitetail deer cartriges in the world. I use a factory sporter built on a 1917 CG for deer myself.

Nice Swede. I have one and they are great rifles. I wish that I had one of those commercially sporterized conversions (not that I would bubbify one myself) to go along with my Carl Gustav 1919 dated Swede.

Picture is of a 1916 Swedish M-96 converted by the Swedes into a type M-38. 6.5 mm of course. Got this one before it got out of the backroom into the store, didn't even have the sale tag on it yet.

Picked up a 6.5 Swedish Type 96 at the gunshop today. I had not seen any Swedish mausers for sale for 2-3 years and in the last week bought this
one and the Type 38 (above). The rifle is in excellant condition, matching numbers and still had cosmoline in the bore and bolt. Price $275.00.
Pictures are poor - I put both rifles in them for comparison purposes, but the pictures are deceiving. The Type 38 is much shorter than Type 96
than it appears in the photo.
