I've been thinking of ordering one of these from Century, but I'd like to see some first. I've heard some say most of these guns are in poor condition, but wondered what some of you may have received that have ordered them. Are there any decent ones to be found? I'd really like to have one with both German WWII markings and IDF markings. (I like the history there). Do most have decent bores?

i've seen one, and handled it, but didnt get to shoot it... overall the one i saw looked good... not great, but good.... bore was bright, good looking, ........wood was a little rough, and the metal needed to be reblued.... but no rust or pits.... the one i saw didnt have german markings, but i'd think that given the history they probably would have been pinged, stamped over, etc.... i might get to borrow it for a hog shoot soon, and if i get a hog or two, i'll see about setting up a target and getting some groups.....

Here is mine, the metal was a little rough but not too bad. A little
steel wool and a quick reblue and it's a shooter. The bore was good
and the wood wasn't to bad either, then I ruined the barrel (don't
ask :nonono:), bought a new barrel in the white and had a smith put
it on for me. I wasn't up to sweating off the sights and putting them
on the new barrel then refinishing the barrel and headspacing and all.
When I got mine I got it with the winter trigger guard that was an
option at that time. I couldn't resist putting the scope on it, sorry, there is actually about a 1/4 inch between the scope and the rear sight.

are these based on large ring mausers or are they small ring mausers like the spanish guardia civils? i was all set on buying a guardia civil until i read somewhere on here that although they are chambered for .308, the action may not actually be strong enough for a full-powered .308 load. what kind of prices do they go for?
I'm just a sucker for .308 guns because I like being able to order one caliber for 3/4 of my collection. i'm lazy like that.

phirebug...They are large ring mausers. Basically they are\were 8mm mausers that have been rebarreled by the Israelis into 7.62. Century has them starting at $179. I've heard a lot of these are pretty ruff, including the bores though.
Another large ring .308 mauser is the Spanish FR-8.
