So, I might find myself the owner of a new (to me) SVT-40 in the next few days. If I end up with the rifle, I am thinking of restoring the rifle with a new shellc finish. The stock looks good, but there are some small spots where the old shellac finish has flaked. If I do want to undertake this project, how would you recommend using shellac, I have no experience with it. Thanks.

unless the stock is horrible i would leave it alone, svt's arent as common as regular mosin nagants

if you MUST fix scratches and bad spots i would use a shellac stick and not redo the whole thing. it would be tough to match the color thats on there now, ive tried this on some of my non matching put together mosin nagants with bad luck, and ended up redoing the whole shellac coat.
