Range time for me is every Sunday at 14:00hr provided it's not raining, I don't have pressing work or have not ticked the wife off severely. An older friend of mine has a place a few miles out of town that he set up with a pistol berm, 100yd and 200yd berms with a reloading shack behind the shooting bench. Really nice in all with only a couple of deterrents, a bull that loves to eat targets off the back boards if he sees them and waiting for the flock of wild turkey to leave when they come to eat in the evenings. The last few weeks I have been trying to work up a load for the FNAR that I have been getting 1.5"MOA with milsurp ammo. I still have some more work to get it where I want but thought I'd tell you guys about mishap last time I was working on it. I reloaded several test rounds with different charges and sat down at the bench to try them out with my buddy spotting for me. After firing half the rounds, I was reloading the mag with the next set of rounds and two crow landed at about 150 to 160yd out between the berms. My buddy told me to light them up. I got a little excited to see if I could actually hit a moving target at that range with the new loads. Popping the mag into the rifle and charging it, I laid sight on one. While following it and waiting for it to pause, the two lined up one behind the other. Not believing it had happened, I squeezed the trigger. Nothing happened. No click, no boom, nada. Recharged, sighted, squeezed and again nothing. Tried a third time with the same results. My buddy picked his rifle up and shewed the crow off. Then we sat down to find out why the problem. When I pulled the FCG off to look for something broken, I found an extra piece that did not belong. It was a 1.5" round cleaning patch wedged between the hammer and the trigger. I felt relief that number one, my new rifle was not broken and number two I use square patches. We think my buddy might have done it cleaning it between rounds for me while I was reloading some more trial rounds but who knows. Just glad it did what it did instead of the other possibilities.

Glad it was nothing serious. Where did you get those targets?

Safety first, and please pardon the soapbox.............As much as we love family and friends.......TRUST no one when it comes to your weapon. If you want to loan one out, I have, that's fine. But when I'm USING a weapon, it's hands off to everybody. That's how an unloaded gun gets loaded, when your back is turned and somebody dicks with it.
I'm glad your rifle was fine and sad that you missed the double on the crows.

Glad it turned out fine.
I have a similar story about not letting ANYONE clean your weapon. Two friends of mine were shooting. On the way home, friend #2 says he will take care of the rifles and clean them. Next time out at the range, friend #1 has rifle that friend #2 has "cleaned" for him. A round will not chamber. Taking out the bolt, he looks down the barrel and cannot see daylight. He runs a cleaning rod throught the barrel and out pops a cleaning patch!
The rifle was a Shilen barreled 700 Rem in 7mm STW.
After hearing of this, I always check my bores before "lock and load." I also have never let anyone else service my weapons.

IF I was smart AND paying attention, I would have noticed they were from Shooting Times. http://www.shootingtimes.com/targets/
THanks for the offer.

Heh. A good reminder to not only examine your rifle after a shooting session, but BEFORE a session.
On the not having someone else cleaning your weapons:
I took a buncha milsurps to shoot at a buddy's up north, the Garand, FR-8, Mosins, K-31 Swiss. He was helping after the shoot by pulling and cleaning bolts, and he was just rubbing on the K-31 bolt, and got it to unlatch and come apart. Well, I hadn't takne the bolt down meself yet, and was at a loss at how to reassemble (insturctions were printed out in my rifle manual binder at home). we cleaned the bolt parts, put em in a bag, and I reassembled later.
I will say, the K-31 bolt seems even easier to assemble/disassemble than a Mauser bolt, IMHO.
