Just to share with you guys, my Dad calls last night and wants to talk shop on guns before he went to bed, he just graduated from the Academy to become a guard.
During his last couple weeks he was allowed to train with guns he never was allowed to shoot during his twenty some odd years in the USAF, he was talking about how he liked shooting the Glock 18, he said it was an ammo waster :no doubt", and then he went into his new admiration of the M14, he asked, son what would one of those set me back about 500 bones or so? I told him basically that would be a good down payment on one he would be looking at a base model deal somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 and they can get as ugly as 3000 or more depending on the deal.
he was speechless, but then so am I, I am 47 and my Dads a prison guard.:icon_biggrin:

It's always a nice day you can talk with your dad, wish I still could, as i'm sure many others here would as well.
Nothing wrong with prison guards, or Correctional Officers, keep my old ass safe each and everyday i walk thru the wire and go out among them!

That's good to hear.
Have him start out slow with an SKS or AR15.

That's great man....

I only got back into guns after my dad died, kinda wish I'd done it sooner. I've got 4 k31's, and I know he'd have gone nuts over those rifles.... (betcha yours would too :D)

Thanks J! yeah I bet he would like one of my K31's I have 3 and two other swiss rifles I would love to see him shoot one I think he would like them, he always tells me he wants his old Enfield back he sold a while back, I sure hate seeing my parents get so old I wish I could take a break from this rat wheel every now and then and visit them.
Coincidentally my Dad grew up in the Clovis/Odessa area.

I lost my dad when I was 18 but I still remember the only time I went dove hunting with him I remember like if it was yesterday. I am a father and when the time comes I will take my son hunting whit me. This demonstrates that firearms unite families.
