One of the biggest hurdles to reloading the Aussie 7.62 I have is the fact it's berdan primed. I know RCBS sells a depriming tool and I'd have figure out a way to clean the primer cup, but even with all that done I can't find berdan style primers anywhere, regardless of size.
PMC (Korean) used to import these but thanks to one of the various bans on importation, these have dried up. I've looked on-line, called probably a dozen retailers and mail order companies. Nobody seems to have a line on where we can get them.
Some have told me to remove the anvil and use regular boxer style primers but there's no way I'm going to do that. First I wouldn't trust the strength of the brass after that. Second, berdan primers use two flash holes where boxer uses one. Lord knows what having two holes would do for powder burn rates and potential over pressure as more flame is being thrown in to the powder.
Help me Obi Gun Kenobi... you're my only hope.
