One of the biggest hurdles to reloading the Aussie 7.62 I have is the fact it's berdan primed. I know RCBS sells a depriming tool and I'd have figure out a way to clean the primer cup, but even with all that done I can't find berdan style primers anywhere, regardless of size.

PMC (Korean) used to import these but thanks to one of the various bans on importation, these have dried up. I've looked on-line, called probably a dozen retailers and mail order companies. Nobody seems to have a line on where we can get them.

Some have told me to remove the anvil and use regular boxer style primers but there's no way I'm going to do that. First I wouldn't trust the strength of the brass after that. Second, berdan primers use two flash holes where boxer uses one. Lord knows what having two holes would do for powder burn rates and potential over pressure as more flame is being thrown in to the powder.

Help me Obi Gun Kenobi... you're my only hope.

I bought 2000 from a guy on Gunbroker and they weren't priced
that bad either, $56 delivered for 2000. If I had to drive to the
nearest gun shop for 2000 large rifle boxers, it would be $51 and
some change, tax and all, plus the price of gas on that. These
are PMC LRB's and I have shot some already with no problems,
and the seller is a good guy to deal with.

BTW, standard Boxer large rifle primers are smaller diameter than
the large rifle Berdan primers, they will fall out of the primer
pocket.

Yep. Already knew that but thanks for pointing it out. Others may not have known.

From the sound of it I'll have to keep my eye open on Gun Broker if I am going to find these things.

As luck would have it someone has two lots up for sale on Gun Broker as I type this. The first is a lot of 2000 PMC berdan large rifle primers, current production, for $56. The second lot is 5000 of the same primers for $106.

GO GO GUN BROKER!!

Like I said that guy is a good guy to deal with and don't forget to
add the $10 for shipping and handling, still ends up being reasonable
price if you figure you have to drive anywhere for standard primers.
