Ok guys...well I've got my cetme, and my ak, not to mention the 303 and the mosin, but now I wanna build something.
I see a ton of AK builds being done, and I'm reading up on that, but since I already have an AK i want to do something different.
I'm thinking an AR build. from what I've read its really more of an AR putting together than a build, and that seems like a good idea for my first trial.
I'm looking for something also rather unexpensive and I've seen a huge varience on prices for uppers and lowers. I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to AR's, all i really know is I like shooting them.
I've seen quite a few 9mm builds for them also and that interests me. Any input from you guys would be great as I know the knowledge around here is amazing.

See this thread for suggestions for your AR15 project.

Why not build an FAL? Same caliber as your CETME and as I understand it, nearly as easy as an AR build. I'm waiting for my receiver from DSA. Receivers are the only part you will have to wait for. DSA told me 4-6 weeks before delivery.

Thought about a FAL also, but Nato rounds are getting really expensive on me... and i've always wanted an AR to toy around w/... I'll start reading up on the fal though

despite perro's hatred for the black rifle, i'd strongly reccomend it.
i shot the most things and i shot the best with my M4 clone.
also took it hunting the most and got the most with it while hunting. shot placement ranks #1 in my book. as long as you don't use .223 for elk or bear or rhino or godzilla i think it'd be fine
i don't shoot deer or anything really that big anyways, or i see them all the time and i don't want to shoot them with that caliber.

All I ever shoot is paper anyway so really .223 doesn't bother me... as long as hear a bang and see a hole in a target... I'm pretty happy...

I'd do an AK first (easiest to me). If you want middle ground you could always build an AK in 5.45x39 vs the standard 7.62x39.

The whole thing keeping me from doing an ak is my lack of tooling, that and already having one ak... trying now to diversify my collection

Only one AK? There is always Hungarian, Polish, Yugo, Romy... underfolders, fixed stocks, etc., then as I mentioned you can get into 5.45 even. Doesn't really take a lot of tools if you check into it. Doing just one AK build wouldn't be worth it, but once you invest in the tools you will keep building (believe me I know) it's a habit I just can't break now.

1919, everybody needs at least 1.

BAD M1.... I do not need ideas of beltfeds in my dreams...
Rampager...I agree 1 AK isn't enough, but 2 types of battle rifles isn't enough either...
Once I invest in enough tools (or convince dad that he needs them himself) I'll do a couple of ak's... cause i want an underfolder and a pistol at least.
I would absolutely love a 1919 build but until i get a much better job yea...

battanboy, I've been told that line from DSA now for 6 months. 1st it was 60 days, then it was April, then it was May, Now I was told Late June or Early July. I ordered a Type 1 with carry handle.... They make the best, IMHO, So I just have to wait.....
